I think that if the drinking age is going to remain at 21 in the US then they should move adult age to 21 as well. Making the adult age 18 while the drinking age is 21 doesn't make any sense and makes for second class citizens. Check this out dude.
Alcohol is a drug, mkay? A drug that adversely affects the developing mind. I have yet to find any studies on the effect of alcohol on the development of the brain between the ages of 16 to 21, but prior to the age of sixteen it has been shown to have harmful effects. After the age of 21 or so the consumption of alcohol has been shown to be good for you if done in light or moderate amounts.
Maturity has nothing to do with it. If you'd like the government to stop trying to look out for your safety in this matter, write to your congressman.
And I object to your use of the title "second class citizens".
