Subject: Brief Halo 5 story idea

Sorry, I know this is kinda rushed, but this is an idea I had that could be expanded on

A few years have passed since the events of Halo 4. Master Chief has had trouble coping with Cortanas death, and there's been no conflict to take his mind off it. Then, out of nowhere, the Flood attack earth. Chief is suddenly called to action and must neutralise the Flood threat. In the sky, an unidentified ship hovers. It is thought to be the origin of the Flood attack. It is immune to everything possible, even nukes, from the outside, so Chief and some spartan 5s go up to destroy it from within.

Once inside, an AI companion finds out that the Flood are coming from slip space. After opening a portal, the Spartans enter to neutralise the Flood, but are greeted by the Didact, who tricked them, and traps them while he goes to earth. When he arrives, lots of forerunner ships arrive via slip space. He decides that if he can't turn humanity into servants, he will simply destroy them. The ships star firing at the planet while Promethean forces invade the planet. They overwhelm the human forces.

Then, the Arbiter and his elites lead a fleet of carriers to push back the forerunners. After assisting on earth, the Arbiter, some elites, and humans go to the unidentified ship, open a portal and release the Spartans.

How Halo 5 will happen

343 realizing Halo 4's campaign was god awful, will write the entire thing off in a dream sequence that Chief had while in cryo sleep. You see, what really happened was....

At the end of Halo 3 Chief is floating out in space, seemingly forever. About 60 years later he is found floating in space near a space station and revived. The UNSC are still around and wish to know how the Forward Unto Dawn was destroyed. Chief explains it was all due to an infectious life form that killed his entire crew, as well as everyone else on the ARK but they do not believe him. Chief gets his Spartan License revoked and now has to spend his days working on the space station that found him. He works simplistic cargo moving jobs with a Mantis, proving he is still useful. Unfortunately for Chief, a government official named Burke arrives and informs Chief that Cortona is dead, she died of old age a long time ago.

Even worse, colonists on the ARK have been reported missing, just around the area that Chief said the "flood" were found. Now a military team is being sent to find out what happened to the colonists, and Burke asks Chief to go with the military team, since if the "Flood" is real, he has the most experience with how to deal with them. Chief at first refuses, but after having a nightmare in which he is infected by the flood, he agrees. But he will only go under the condition that when they find the flood, they won't study them, they will kill them all. Burke assures him that this is what they will do.

Chief and a military team composed of a spicy Latina marine, a typical squad leader, a loud black sergeant, Bill Paxton, and a bunch of other marines are sent in, under the command of a pretty-boy officer. Accompanying the team as well are Burke and a male AI named Bishop. The team drops towards the ARK Halo CE style, and on the way down it is revealed that the officer has only been on two actual combat drops before, proving he is very rusty. The team investigates the colony and finds that it is absolutely deserted, with the exception of a female AI named Newt who is found hiding in the ventilation systems computer. Chief feels attached to the AI who reminds him very much of Cortona. The marines find a bunch of the colonists life signatures in a complex not too far away, and the team takes a large, armored warthog that can carry the entire team to the location.

Once there all the marines go in to find the colonists, only Chief, Newt, Burke, Bishop and the officer remaining in the hog. Once inside the marines are told to remove the ammunition from their weapons because the area is highly combustible. Some of the marines secretly keep ammo however. Soon, the flood attack! Most of the marines are killed instantaneously, only a few fighting for survival with the little ammo they have left. Chief demands that the officer call the marines out, but he is in shock. Chief then takes control of the warthog and saves the remaining marines, which include the squad leader, the Latina chick, and Bill Paxton. The sarge and everyone else perished unfortunately.

The team retreats and learns that an evac won't come for seventeen days, to which Bill Paxton replies "Seventeen days? We won't last seventeen hours! GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!"
Chief yells back that Newt survived for seventeen hours and she was just a young AI.

The team then holds up, sending Bishop through the system to retrieve a shuttle and remotely bring it to the team. The flood attack however, and everyone but Newt, Chief, and the squad leader guy are killed. Then, one of the Flood manage to take the Chip that contains Newt on it, and while the Squad leader and Bishop get on the shuttle, Chief goes back for Newt.

He finds her and rescues her, but then the two are chased by the Gravemind. In the very end, Chief gets control of a Mantis and fights the Gravemind who attacks Newt, Chief yells "GET AWAY FROM HER YOU -blam!-!" and then he kills the Gravemind and gets on the shuttle. All of the characters then go in to cryo sleep as they leave the flood infested planet behind.

Sounds interesting, but I'm hoping Halo 5 delves a little into the possibility of surviving Precursors, the creators of life.

Ah yes. Perhaps they could ally with humanity to defeat the Didact!

Or visa-versa, armies of Covenant, Humans, and Forerunners uniting to defeat the Precursors. Or maybe that would be a better idea for Halo 6.

How about

At the beginning of Halo 6, humanity has gone all out war against the forerunners. Then, a forerunner assault fleet is completely wiped out by the precursors, who offer an alliance with humanity and the elites. The forerunners are defeated, and then the precursors betray humanity. Then Chief and Arby defeat the precursors.
