Lets face it... who doesn't love the shotgun? ITs raw power at your finger tips... its perhaps the most beautifully designed shotgun in any video game and the best gun for obliterating flood.

What can bungie possibly do to possibly improve upon the shotgun for halo 3? Halo 2 gave it a sicker look, but the balance of halo 2 made the shotgun seem weaker then it was in halo 1.

I personally think the next shotgun should have a new look and be more powerful. Perhaps the addition of a doublebarrel shotgun to the game or being able to duel-wielding shotguns (its not a ridiculous idea... after all, the MC is a super-human... plus the shotgun is exteremly rare on most MP levels anyways, so it'd be exteremly difficult to get duel-wielding and you'd be leaving yourself more vulnerable to mid-range attacks since you'd lose the ability to throw nades.

There was no "balance" for Halo 2's shotgun. You fire at someone rushing you with a shotgun four times, only to have them blow you away in one shot with his shotgun. The Shotgun didn't behave one bit like a real shotgun(is that so, Robert?).

Bring back Halo's shotgun.

They need to upgrade the shotgun in someway for Halo 3... the halo 2 shotgun was pretty much a hit or miss weapon for close range only. The new shotgun needs to atleast inflict more damage at mid-range, and the be all end all near equivalent to the Sword for close range (obviously no lung with the shotgun, but otherwise, they should be totally equivalent in terms of damage, etc.)

Maybe something like the Doom shotgun. That was a great one. Just make it more like a shotgun and less like a blankgun.

Make it like the first shotgun in H1, but be able to find different ammo like slugs or ballistic shells.

Halo1 shotgun didn't have the sound for it's power. Halo2 shotgun has no balls, and personally I like how the first one looked.

Why not just keep the momentum going and create a whole new one again?

Just make the shotgun consistent. Either make it weak or powerfull, but dont make it so if i fire theres a fifty fifty chance of hitting anything.

i want to be able to reload quicker and a lil more range like atleast 5 more yards cus right now u have to be standing next to them to kill them and by the time u get that close ur dead

If a double-barreled shotgun, no matter how unlikely, was included in the game, it would obviously be extremely powerful in order to make up for its excess reload time. I was just an idea.

Truth be told though, I was thinking more along the lines a duel-wielding a shotgun.... MC's a freakin superhuman... duel-wielding shotguns would be cake for him and the animation for pumping single handed would be sick... along the lines of terminator 2, or perhaps the next to final fight scene in t he rundown, where the ROCk holds two shotguns side by side, in essence, a doublebarrel shotgun.

Make the shotty as strong as a Halo 2 Host shotty..lookks the same..and there should be no Host advantage (by making the cone of fire fixed like it is in Halo 2 CE, rather than random like in Halo 2)

I wouldn't mind the Halo 2 shotgun if it was just consistent. It sucks to pick up a weapon and wonder, "will it work this time?".

I think a hybrid between the H1 shotgun and the H2 shotgun would be perfect. Not long range, not extremely close range, I say, SMG range that gets more powerful the closer you are to your target.

I think the new halo shotgun should be a stronger caliber with less rounds per each reload. That way it has better strength between close to mid then the halo 2 shotgun did while limiting the amount of total carnage you can do.

the halo 2 shotty IMO felt like a pea shooter when i went back and played halo 1. in halo 1 there was a feeling of raw power when it was shot. it made a loud noise and it recoiled up the screen. halo 2s sound and little recoil, as well as its uslessness against brutes and flood was dissapointing. hope they redesign it to be the shredding beast it was in halo 1.

I like how they set up the shotgun in 'Black'. It was double barreled but you could either shoot a single shot or a both barrels at once. If you used both barrels at once though it took you a while to shoot again. But they used the Left trigger for the 'Secondary Shot' of the shotgun instead of gernades and I found that annoying.
