Subject: Is the fourth Dimension time?

I have heard different and seemingly opposingly different theories about the fourth dimension and it annoys me.

One theory I heard is that the fourth dimension is time/anti time, the fith dimension is other universes branching off our own, and the sixth dimension is travel between other dimensions.

Then I also heard that the fourth dimension is just another dimension, that we can't see because like if we were all 2 dimensional, we would not be able to see the third dmension. And that a four dimensional cub would look like This

which is right? or are either right?

Everyone I have asked seems to think so, I do too.

Generalizations.

Depends what theory you are talking about.

Relativity = 3 spatial dimensions + 1 time dimension. I think.

Yes, perhaps there are only 3 spacial dimensions, and multiple others. I haven't thought about categorizing them before.

I think it's time.

Think about it this way:

OP meet me on the 25th floor of the Empire State Building on the north side.

You have your X and Y coordinates (location of ESB in NYC) and your Z coordinate (25th floor).

But when do we meet? One hour from now? A week? A month?

As far as I understand it, time would be the 4th axis/coordinate plane / whatever, because we can meet at XYZ but without a time, we have no idea when to meet at XYZ.

If we take this even further, which reality do we meet in?

Again, depends what theory we are talking about.

In the theory of relativity, there are only 3 spatial dimensions.

In M theory, an extension of string theory, there are 11 dimensions.

Dimensions are not tangible, they're man made philosophical and mathmatical concepts. It's not like you go to a 2D world like Mario if you travel through a fancy hole. Speaking mathmatically, it's adding another right angle.

Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.

Actually, there is no Fourth Dimension. V-Sauce explained this.

Where? I wanna see.

As I said earlier, if I told you to meet me at XYZ, you wouldn't know when to meet me there. So as far as I know right now, time would be that "missing" dimension.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Where is your argument now?

The HELL you are! These are precious gifts to me and they are non-transferable! How dare you regift my challenge prize. You might as well hock a wedding ring for beer money. -DeeJ

There is no fourth dimension.

Break down, every single one of you.

Listen to good ol' Sagan. I found this video quite interesting.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

That video has a creepy vibe.

~:O>~~

The 4th dimension is the accumulation of all events happening simultaneously (multiple world theory)... 4th dimensional objects cast 3 dimensional geometric shadows in the same way that a 3 dimensional object casts a 2 dimensional shadow in our 3 dimensional world.

Quantum mechanics only makes sense in the 4th dimension since every possibility is concurring at once (electron particle behaving like 'wave')
