What kind of 'things' do they do that require such intense muscles?

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

I made a thread once about how the marines in Halo 3 look too weak. I was greeted with comments about me wanting to see burly men and questions about my -blam!-ity. Let it be known in Halo Reach and Halo 4 the marines are more buff.

Muscle density.

Carrying a half ton suit of armor on them at all times?

If pro is the opposite of con, then the opposite of progress is...

I associate almost all the marines in all the halo games with the word weak.

As Spartans, they can punch out a tank and run as fast as a car. They can also survive the MJOLNIR armor.

But this is a matter of density, not necessarily size.

In the case of Crimson, everything.

I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

Armor, lifting turrets, being able to punch Elites that actually does damage, etc.

They already have super human strength and the armor increases it. They're not punching a tank, they're punching something that's made out of flesh. They are more than strong enough to kill Elites with melee attacks.

The female model needs a buff though. Their arms are far to skinny for that armor.

Armor

Their armour is neurally linked to them, they literally command it with their mind. Thats why non-spartan personnel can't wear it, as the armour moves sharply and strongly enough to break bones.

lifting turrets

ODSTs can lift off turrets so that's no big deal.

being able to punch Elites that actually does damage.

I'd imagine being smacked in the face by a titanium alloy gauntlet would be sufficient to hurt an elite.

1V1 Crimson team in a banshee fight.
You're assuming Crimson would be given Banshees. Palmer's not that generous; the most they'll get is a Mongoose.

Hush your face! I like my anorexic spartan.
It makes me feel more connected :3

I dont think the armor amplifies strength as much as people assume.
No, it significantly amplifies their strength. They've also had enhancements that increase muscle mass and density without increasing size to the point they look like they abuse roids.
