I cannot afford internet. Im borrowing an internet device for my computer. I only can use it every two weeks, once a month if im lucky.

I hope internet isn't a main priority because im screwed.
Money is gonna be an issue for me for a looong time.

Anyone else wish most of the features in the game don't require internet?

I imagine that online will most certainetly enhance the experience, but I can't imagine that it would be required.

Only after we ban Bricypoo.

I do just so I can get more of my friends to play it, since some of them don't have high speed internet.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I wonder if Destiny is going to be like Borderlands in terms of online.

I do hope there is a way to play offline as well. What'd be amazing is two discs, an offline disc with a single player campaign in the city and an online disc with a multiplayer world in the city.

$.50 in store credit.

I doubt it will really be an MMO, or be online required. It would hardly be a game 'social at its core' if it excluded people, or didn't allow for a strong Split screen co-op. I imagine it will be similar to the Borderlands style of 'you can play solo, but it's 1000000% more awesome with friends."

Hey I am a big Bungie fan ever since I played Halo 2. I love the series, I love Bungie. I have made a few Bungie logos in my metal shop.

It will probably have online multiplayer but other than no it probably won't need internet. Bungie is nice like that.

I doubt they would make a game that would require internet. Obviously if you have internet you'll have access to everything the game provides but I bet they'll have some sort of Campaign and firefight.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Half Machine.

PS
No, I do not want to join your clan/group.

I can't imagine internet being required for anything more than multiplayer modes. I think eventually console games will require an internet connection, but that's still a ways down the road.

Hi there! be sure to click that homepage link!

Trust me, Bungie. It isn't fun without the internet.

I've been out for 6 days and went from Legendary to Heroic on here. Oh well.

But seriously, Bungie had better bear the OP in mind.

  • 12.02.2012 2:23 AM PDT

Per Audacia Ad Astra!

I'm with you OP, i play on very rare occasion online on XBOX Live (because i don't want to pay LIVE + my regular internet subscritption) so that's why i stick with my PC and PS3... And if Destiny is only online, waiting for it on PS3 or PC will be an eternity.

It's a shooter MMO so I doubt that it's offline brother.
Really? How do you know this?

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I hate it when it's required, I'm an offliner as well.

  • 12.02.2012 8:34 AM PDT

It's 2012. You're kind of expected to have Internet access.

Keep up or get left behind. That's how this works.

[*Please note that anything in my posts is likely to be filled with sarcasm, and should be taken with a pinch of salt. I tend to help people, usually*]

I'm still a firm believer that Bungie recognizes the importance of the solitary experience.

I don't believe it will be an online-only game, but I do think that it may be one of those worlds that exists in some sort of meta-chunk MMO world. Perhaps seamless transitions with new players in regions of the world.

Matchmaking on the fly, essentially.

It's in the contract. It just has MMO elements but is, quite simply, not an MMO.

I don't know statistics, but you have to realise: the only people who know about Destiny at the moment are those with internet access. The majority of gamers have access to the internet and play online. If 90% of the people buying a game have internet access, it's not up to the developer to make it an offline title for the 10% who don't.
