No, the assumption (Which is correct, I might add) is that the Earth, the Sun, and the Galactic center will aligned that day. It happens every single December 21st, and it has no significant gravitational effects on the Earth. Nothing will happen.that's what NDT said
It happens every 20,000 years or so . . Not every year.
I think it's actually closer to every 56,000 years, but I'm not positive on that.
Though even still, nothing will happen.
Even the existing Maya don't think anything will happen. The end of the 13th Baktun was supposed to be the beginning of a new age for mankind. Nothing to do with the end of the world, mankind was supposed to enter an age of enlightenment. It was to be a celebration and time of joy.
I don't think it would be the end of the world, but like I said in a earlier post in this thread, I think aliens might make themselves known.
That would count as enlightenment.
