Personally I think fighting inside the Infinity would be cool. Maybe it's under siege by the joint Covenant-Prometheans?

(The Mantis mission didn't really do it justice imo)

in the garbage.

OT: MORE MAPS!

I think the pelican gunship should make an appearance, but unlike in campaign where all we got to shoot was a few phantoms, have us fighting everything such as phantoms and banshees, as well as ground targets so that we can make full use of all the weapons on the pelican. Also some proper space or aerial combat involving the broadsword would be nice.

Just a long massive area hold out mission.

All of my this.

You know, this is off topic but I actually really hate how that jet thing is called a Broadsword. That implies a bomber in the same aesthetic family as the Longsword. Instead it looks like a Saber derivative.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

I'd like to see it go away.

I was going to post, but I see you've already done it for me. Thank you, good sir!

In addition to that...

Spartan Ops is one of the worst parts of Halo 4. The gameplay is in almost no way connected to the cut-scenes, many of the levels are just re-hashed sections from the campaign or multiplayer maps where you fight with bots. The repetition here is absolutely INSANE. Not only do we play through the same sections, often fighting the same enemies over and over and over again, the combat itself is repetitive: kill these guys over here, push this button, kill the guys, kill the guys, push button, push another button, kill the guys...
...it wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that this is the replacement they gave us for scoring in Campaign co-op and firefight, which had some actual tension to the gameplay because there were actual consequences for dying unlike this meatgrinder of a gametype. And don't forget the fact that Spartan Ops is XBL Gold locked, so if you're offline for whatever reason, you're just out of luck. Even if it WERE offline, it wouldn't matter since the majority of the levels are designed specifically for 4 people to be playing at once, and you're not compensated with anything like a reduced number of enemies or more friendly bots when playing alone.

TL;DR: Spartan Ops SUCKS! It is one of the most pointless, monotonous, repetitive, uninspired, and poorly executed ideas in all of Halo. And I say this as someone who's been a diehard fan since Halo: CE, and own EVERY Halo game.

I think it was a terrible idea. I probably wouldn't consider myself a hardcore Halo player anymore, that probably ended around mid-Reach, but still. As soon as I heard about it months before release, it pissed me off. I don't want to play new missions every week! Instead of wasting time with that crap, fix things like Forge and Custom games which they screwed up so heavily.

I didn't know people disliked it...
It's probably one of the few things i like in Halo 4. Simply for that over the top action.

I was pretty much gonna write my reply exactly like that.

But it's NOT over-the-top action. Sure, it's an opportunity for you to fight LOTS of AI with friends, but it rarely provides any variety or imagination. The huge majority of the levels are just: Kill everything, push the button, kill everything again.
The story is poorly woven into the gameplay, the gametype provides absolutely no consequences for dying, and almost always revolves around just killing every enemy AI. It's mindless. It would be SO much better if they gave us certain weapons based on how many times we'd died beforehand, or if one of the missions would result in failure if friendly marines or spartans died. I played that one mission where you got an achievement if a marine lived, that achievement was FUN to get, and I think we need more of THAT in this gametype.
Spartan Ops needs more variety in the gameplay, more tension in its missions, and a stronger connection to the awesome cutscenes that come out every week. Otherwise, we may as well just be playing The Library in Halo: CE with 4 players!

Where would you want to see Spartan Ops go?
To the store

I totally disagree with Spops lack of consequence for death. Legendary is almost pointless because you spawn and die, spawn and die, and.. Spawn and die. Death never restarts the mission, sends you back a checkpoint, or ends the game after dying too much.
Absolutely no fun involved, replay value is terrible.

8/5/08 Bungie Favorites- NoEnd
7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

The episodes are amazing, but the mission themselves are lackluster at best. I'd like to see.

A mission where:
-Don't push ANY buttons
-Palmer doesn't say "eggheads"
-The story behind the reason we're there is convincing and immersive
-A cool and unique area
-A challenging fight without dropping off 10 elites with fuel rod guns

aka everything Spartan Ops hasn't been.

Too true, it's not that good and it's taking dev time away from fixing actual problems.

I wouldn't be surprised if none of that criteria was met by the end of season 1.

If you can read this, that means I'm not a Shaolin monk...

yet.

More like the missions we read about in the books, you know. Board a cruiser, place a nuke... infiltrate a huge station, whatever. Just less "kill people in reused spaces and press buttons"

I'm fine if they keep taking it in the direction it's already going.

"Ef it, people just want to play firefight, just throw enemies at them."
