T4R.

For me it's definitely good, but the game has some shortcomings, such as Spartan Ops, a few gameplay issues and the damned multiplayer lobby.

Some stuff could be better but overall it is good.

For those who wish to contact me on Xbox LIVE, my main account is "The 7th Taco", and the one linked with my profile here is only a backup.

Forge, Customs, Theater, and Playlists need a few tweaks. Other than that: 10/10

343's inability to balance weapons while claiming they don't need a beta angers me.
Also the huge lag spikes.

Online multi-player and lack of Custom Game Customization really ruined it for me.

However, the Campaign and Spartan Ops (as well as Forge) were the saving graces of this game.

You're either first or you're last.

You'll never amount to anything, go back under your bridge.

I actually really liked the campaign. Multiplayer could use some work, but it seems that releasing unpolished games is becoming the norm...

Black Ops 2 is more polished than Halo 4.

It's what Halo Reach should have been. Halo 3 at it's core with a few changes and some shiny new toys.

Maybe at it's very core. But I don't know how you can say this when there is no classic playlist, and sprint cannot be turned off.

It infuriates me when people say Halo 4 gameplay is like Halo 3 because it is nowhere near the same. Go and play Halo 3, then go and play Halo 4, massive changes in almost all aspects of gameplay.

I play games like Call of Duty.... to play games like Call of Duty.

I play Halo to play a game like Halo..... Halo 4 doesn't resemble the Halo gameplay whatsoever. It's more of a CoD hybrid than a Halo game. Honestly, after about 2 - 3 months I couldn't stand playing Reach anymore. Halo 4? I gave it two weeks and I quit, there is nothing there which makes me say - hey this is a Halo game, with an Arena style multiplayer, and elements that make we want to come back and play it everyday like Halo 3 did.

Don't believe me? Wait for MLG tournaments, I doubt Halo 4 will be mainstage. And if it is? Not for very long. The years of Halo being a "good" and "respectable" game by far too many are well past gone. I see less and less sales in its future if 343i continues to be blight ridden and attempt to create a CoD game in a Halo format. When has this ever worked? It didn't work with Reach did it? Nope. And the population proves it.....

Hell..... I thought we had it bad with Reach?

(My rant..... my very small rant).

Plus Spartan Ops is a joke. Yeah, lets throw some cliche "Shoot some bad guys" objectives on some blatantly obvious outtakes of campaign and multiplayer maps and say it took a lot of work. Firefight wasn't too fun in Reach, but at least it didn't feel like a chore to play.

Sure, I can see where you're coming from. I still think Halo 4 is fun, but it does feel different to the older Halo games.

I really want to play Halo 3 now.

A game that drops to 20000 players just after peak hours 3 weeks after release isn't going to do well.

It's all personal opinion. But everybody I know that loved Halo 3 and the competitive format has moved back to Halo 3, Battlefield, or of course Black Ops II. (Which I told myself I would not buy, but here I am - buying another rehashed game).

Many justify the Halo direction as being a "Modern shooter" but since when has Halo needed to stoop to creating such a blatant tryhard copy of a CoD game? Why do games need to be like CoD to be successful? What happened to originality? What happened to making a unique, rich, and diverse experience for players? Years ago Halo and CoD were two different games, and I don't remember people saying Halo 3 was a CoD copy - but they certainly do now.

CoD was around when Halo 3 was out, yet.... people played and enjoyed that more as a whole? (Based on population averages)
I wonder why..... /sarcasm

so you're mad because 343 took elements from other games to refresh the halo experience? on top of that, call of duty wasn't the first game to use any of the new elements featured in halo 4.

also, the gameplay of halo has essentially always been 'kill some bad guys' at it's core. i don't understand what you're complaining about. although, i do understand if you don't like the game because opinion is subjective. your reasons for disliking it however make it seem like you're just jumping on the 'it's cool to hate call of duty' bandwagon and rag on any game that features an element of gameplay that call of duty made popular.

but please, do correct me if i've missed something here.

I think a lot of fans don't like killcams, instant respawns, ordnance and custom weapon sets in a series that traditionally went in the opposite direction.

the same multi-player would be dull though. it's a new trilogy and it's time for a fresh start. it's not like the game is a direct copy and paste. it has taken elements from call of duty and incorporated it into the core halo experience. it plays similarly to halo reach, but so very different at the same time. i find it to be refreshing. besides, what new ideas could we think of that would fit in to the established universe for the multiplayer gameplay that are completely new ideas? there area no new ideas, only innovations on an established one.

If I ever get AIDS, I'm going to sleep with another AIDS person so my AIDS cancel each other out, or I'm going to make the AIDS I already have worse.

Bad, Multiplayer is Halo of Duty 4, Spartan Ops should be called Repetitive Ops, don't really want to wait 10 weeks to get a decent story, Campaign is pretty much Master Chief pushing buttons with Dead Space 2's story.

Maps are all horrible.

  • 12.02.2012 4:06 AM PDT

Okay firstly I enjoyed Halo Reach. Don't hate but for me it is one of my favorite games of all time. My online shooters started from Ghost Recon rather than CoD or Halo so I feel I can have somewhat of an unbiased opinion.

Halo 4 is a good game. I was dubious of certain aspects that bear similarities to CoD but I also appreciate the change and freshness it's brought to the franchise. After 4-5 games of Halo(depends on ODST :/) Halo was stagnant to me. No new weapons, maps were boring, enemies repetitive. Halo 4 has brought new weapons, map design, enemies and vehicles to the game. All of which are pros. The game plays well with a new and old gametypes, map design feels well thought out and custom classes gives me opportunities to change my playstyle in response to a map or being spawn trapped. This game is fun to play campaign or MP.

On the negative- vehicles in MP seem nerfed to me, paticularly banshee. Same maps seem to be voted in again and again, horrible lobby layout pregame and the ranking system was so much more motivational and interesting in Reach.

On Black Ops 2: I can't even compare the games. I'm trading Black Ops in as soon as possible for Far Cry3. Horrible lag, hitmarkers, weapons, spawns and bs make this CoD worst ever for me. Halo 4 is in everyway a superior game in campaign, multiplayer and enjoyment factors.

I think that people need to stop comparing new halo games to Halo 3, if you want Halo 3 go play it. The servers are still up. 343 has taken Halo in a new refreshing direction while still retaining elements of the series that make it what it is.
