Hello Flood,

Now I am not one for making halo 4 threads, infact I have sat back and watched all of the threads regarding halo 4 and it's effect on the Halo series. Alot of it I believe is just people arguing for the sake of arguing and I was happy to see halo take a new step.

However what I have just read has made me very sad. There is already a new Halo 4 map pack planned to come out. That's right, Less than a month after release and there is a map pack. To make it worse, all the maps look the same.

Check it out yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4li4N3OGdc&feature=g-all

I guess I could avoid all the criticism over the new series as I hadn't given it a chance, however it is things like this that only make my argument stronger that the new series is killing Halo.

How do you feel about this, is it too early, or should they not make a map pack at all?

Rustled Jimmies

I disagree, it's sensible that DLC to come out now. The new map pack won't kill it

Now let's get down to business, I don't got no time to play around, what is this?

The maps don't really look that good, and it's just Microsoft being money grabbers, not 343. I won't be getting them for a while.

Your 'beliefs' mean less than dick to me.

I don't care when they release DLC as long as it's good. Unfortunately this doesn't like good DLC. Shatter looks like a passable BTB map but the other two... ugh.

I find it funny that people don't realise these maps were obviously VERY near completion (maybe fully done) before launch and they weren't included.

Clearly not, if 343 had to dedicate a sizeable portion of their team to churning these out in over a month.

Who am I?

mah twitter

Well we definitely need new maps..But doesn't seem like they are adding any small maps, which are needed imo. I'm tired of playing 4v4 on maps where you spend most of the time looking for the enemy. What's the point of making huge maps anyway, when 70% of the space is just deserted?

Just so M$ could get some more cash, i'm not cool with that, it's not how games should be.

Less than that. It takes 2 weeks just to get approved. These would have easily been done if they wanted too, but nope om nom nom cash.

Instead of putting out a map pack they should have added in the tons of community forge maps that have been made over the past month. We wouldn't have to buy anything.

Dont act as if you would have acted differently if you worked for 343. It's a business, not a charity.

I would have prioritised fixing existing problems instead of milking the cash cow as fast as possible.

Do not invite me to your private group. I will not join.

OP clearly doesn't understand how a game developing industry works and the reasoning behind this choice.

Yknow you could at least try to sound like you know what you're talking about in the slightest.

Keep It Clean!

Mappacks are good. I wouldn't mind if they ditched the whole Spartan Ops and made even more mappacks with those resources.

Trust me, I'm the Doctor...

Halo 4 came out on the sixth of Novemeber. The Crimson Map Pack comes out on the tenth of December. That's more than a month.

Second, I like it when companies are upfront about things like DLC. "Look, we plan to do three map packs. This is when they'll come out." I think that's better than having to pester them to say whether they're working on DLC or not, and complaining that there's a lack of new content.

  • 12.02.2012 6:27 AM PDT

The only map packs this game needs are Forge based maps. The ones we have currently just aren't cutting it.

The Universe demands to be noticed, to be seen, and dutifully noted.

What use all those incredible firework dimensions if no eye fixes and reflects, no brain takes notes, no heart moves with passion at the display?

NASA answers the silent cry of the Cosmos for recognition.

NASA is the witness and we fellow witnesses to the endless deeps.

I would rather they fixed the fileshare system before releasing more mediocre maps. Community created maps like Fat Kid in Halo 3 were far more memorable than the maps.

I hope you realize it also takes a while for a game to be released after it goes gold. So all that time between the game going gold and it coming out was likely used to make the DLC.
