In less than 10 days from now, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will finally come to theaters in all of it's fantasy splendor! I don't know about the rest of The Flood, but I am terribly excited for this movie, and have been keeping an eye on it practically since the LotR trilogy ended (which I loved as well).

Reviews are finally starting to come in and things look to be off on a bumpy start unfortunately:

Reviews

I can't say much about them though seeing as I haven't actually seen the movie yet, but I truly hope this is all just pretentious ramblings from haughty critics.

Anyway, Is anyone else excited to finally begin enjoying Peter Jackson's The Hobbit saga?

I'm your biggest fan!

Rewatching the LotR trilogy, it wasn't quite as good as I remembered. The trailers haven't impressed me too much, but I'll still watch it and expect it to be a very good film. No more or less excited for it than The Avengers, TDKR and Skyfall.

EDIT: Actually, that's a lie. I was hyped as anything for the Avengers, and was pretty excited for Skyfall too.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

I am very excited.

A few of my friends are LOTR nerds. They can say almost every line in the three movies with the film. It's nuts. So needless to say, they're very excited. Their excitement has spread to me.

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

Can't say I'm that excited for it. Not my cup of tea.

There was a recent TV Spot that came out showing a short glimpse of Smaug (and Laketown). It isn't much, but damn if it didn't get me even more excited for the movies, even though we won't actually be seeing Smaug until the second movie :(

This reminds me, does anyone here plan on watching The Hobbit in HFR at least once? I know I am, if anything I kind of just want to see what 48 fps looks like in a theatrical release.

I wanted to but I did not know it was only select theaters, so we already got the tickets and then I found out. My first viewing will be 24fps but I definitely want to watch it in 48fps.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Other than Les Mis it is my most anticipated thing of the year.

I'm a little weirded out by the fact they decided to turn it into more than one film, but still looking forward to it.

I actually feel the same way. Even still, that really hasn't deterred my excitement for The Hobbit. I'm anxious to see how the story will play out, since useless Frodo, and somewhat reliable Samwise will be replaced by bad ass Bilbo. I also can't wait to see how the fight with the dragon will play out on the silver screen.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

I am pretty excited.

I was worried at first too (and I guess I am still a little worried about it) but I was reading an interview with Jackson and how he pulled a ton of content from J.R.R. Tolkin's lesser know Untold Stories and appendices from Return of the King to fill in the backstory of the Dwarves and the side-story about Gandolf, The White Counsel, and the Necromancer. So hopefully that means he has enough content to keep us all happily engaged for all three movies.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

I'm not as excited for it as I was for the Lord of the Rings films.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I cannot wait, Peter Jackson has done an absolutely phenomenal job with Tolkien's works. The cast for The Hobbit is extremely strong too, Freeman and Cumberbatch in particular have such amazing chemistry I look forward to seeing the scene where Bilbo speaks with Smaug.

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

I'll probably just wait until the DVD comes out. I hate going to the movie theater.
