Subject: Is She really dead? (spoilers)

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

I'm just saying it's she said that they deemed it impossible for the composer to revert composed data back into a biological form. There may be a way.

No, she said it was a perfectly viable option that they attempted, but "the Composer's results soured," which turned those who were being restored into "abominations".

I doubt she's dead.

I bet the Librarian has made a copy of her. After all: Cortana offers the Librarian the most complete database of mankind and our history and progress that she can get her hands on in her isolation.
Her splitting up in the Forerunner network also leads me to believe there are pieces of her scattered around.

Will we see her return in her recognizable shape? Doubtful. Although the glimpse of the "Promethean" AI we've seen in this week's SO episode did look remarkably similar to Cortana...

My guess however is that she will play an important background role. Working from within the Promethean/Forerunner network to aid Chief during H5 and 6. With her actions being revealed during H6.

Seems legit. Maybe her actions would be displayed at the end of Halo 5 to add a second pupose to Chief's struggles in Halo 6, to save Cortana.

I like the idea that was suggested in which H5 does see a replacement Cortana in an attempt to get Chief back in service. As he seems a little 'off' at the end in which he just stares out of the window.

Except this new Cortana will be like the old Cortana mentioned that it'll look like her but it won't have the memories that bonded them. So you may get a mission with this new Cortana but she's cold, calculating and condescending.

I imagine a scene playing out where Halsey is observing John whilst the new Cortana appears in front of him. After John realizes it isn't her. He simply walks away from the pedestal and leaves the room.

After that they could either pair him with a brand new AI (please not Roland) or have a different pairing such as Lasky or Thel Vadam

This sig will Self-Destruct in 3.... 2.... 1.... Thank you for your time. Cookie?

I can see there being a replacement Cortana that might come at odds with Chief and he might reject it in favor for his memories of Cortana in the past trilogy, but I think that's what people might be missing.

imo, Cortana is dead. She's not coming back. She is, pure and simply, dead and... deleted... whatever happens to computer programs and other artificial lifeforms. To spoil Mass Effect 3 here quickly AND YES, I AM SPOILING A MASS EFFECT 3 THING HERE, she's going to be something more along the lines of Legion, imo, where she's dead but the memory of her lives on.

While she's not exactly like our Geth buddy Legion in that her death brought about the sentience of the Geth, I feel that her death will be referenced and used as a focal point to develop John over the course of the new trilogy. He'll probably be haunted by her final words and have to cope with the death of, literally, his best friend since Blue Team for the entirety of the Human-Covenant War's end. As we could plainly see at 4's end, John was simply hiding his grief from Lasky with his usual wall of stoicism; I think he's broken inside, moreso than usual.

imo, 343i would be shooting themselves in the foot if they killed off Cortana only to bring her back in 5 or 6 in any way, shape, or form. If anything, I see Chief's development being something similar to Church's from the popular Halo webseries Red vs. Blue, where the entire point of 5 and 6, along with fighting Storm Covies and whatever else the UNSC feels the need to throw their biggest asset at, is getting OVER her death. To reconcile and move on with his life.

"No, Tex, no. I'm not going to say I love you. I'm going to say I forget you. I forget you. ... I'm letting go." - Epsilon Church (Red vs. Blue Season 9 Finale)
