"It is the cruelest fate, to have written words that meant well and see them made wicked and unwise. What was meant to encourage life, used instead to justify taking it."

As long as the article has sources, I see no problem with it.

It's not a bad source as much as it is not the best. People should look elsewhere for the most credible sources of information when doing research.

I don't play "hide-and-seek", I play "hide-and-hope-I-don't-find-you."

Unless it just says "poop" 400 times, I trust the article.

I disagree how it's a bad source.

People that say that really, really, stupid.

Who agrees?

It's not that it's a bad source, it's just not acceptable to many people.

It's a good way to find acceptable sources though.

I'll bring the tritium laser cutters if you bring the beer!

Funny story.

Instead of saying that Wikipedia is your source you could use the sources at the bottom of the Wikipedia article.

I wouldn't call it a bad source, but there are better sources in the sources section.

Last year my history teacher was telling us about a poll that was taken about Encyclopedia Dramatica vs Wikipedia on accurary....

Wikipedia accuracy: 98%
Encyclopedia Dramatica: 94%

I will continue to use Wikipedia as a source.

Saying wikipedia is a bad source is like saying game manuals are and instruction manuals are bad sources.

This.

Most of the time i end up finding a wikipedia article on the topic of interest and then from there i look at the source material itself to better understand it.

iPhone 4S 64GB Black.

Wikipedia has everything I want to know/find out about anything organised so efficiently. Sometimes, there's a chance the information will be incorrect, but it'll warn you at the top. I've only ever spotted one error in my entire life, and I use Wikipedia about thirty times every day. And they only added a '40' instead of a '60', that's what was wrong.

It isn't our shiznit anymore.

Lolno, you should never cite Wikipedia as a source. The Wikipedia article can only be reliable if it has sources, and even then not every sentence in the Wikipedia article is cited (or it can be misinterpreted) so you're better off just reading through the sources at the bottom of the page and citing those.

If you use it as your only source then it's a bad approach. It is always beneficial to look at multiple sources to see if the information is parallel and gives the same conclusions.

Wikipedia is good. If you are doing an assignment just quote the sources that Wikipedia quotes.

Edit: I see someone has already thought to post this.

Teachers don't like it because it's to easy. The information is there presented for you. You have to do almost no work to find things out.

Teachers just want you to do actual research, and not just use pre-compiled info.
