Subject: Your opinions on assisted suicide.

People who are replying with "Just suck it up" or "Your problems are temporary" clearly don't grasp the situations in which assisted suicide is even considered. Freeing someone from the torment of being trapped in their own body is not the same as a depressed man jumping from a bridge.

Unreal, isn't it?

I think that someone in their right mind won't want to die, unless they're terminal or in extreme, constant, and unrelievable pain. In those cases, I am in support of it. If someone going through Alzheimer's disease wants do die before they lose all cognitive ability and stop being themselves, I'm for that.

Suicide=Permanent

Your problem=temporary

I believe this is talking in the context of medical cases such as prolonged suffering due to a physical/mental ailment.

You never know if that person may get better or not. You aren't the keeper of his life; no human is.
He is.

I mean that nobody, not even him, controls whether or not he will recover from whatever he has.

What? So you guys would help someone else to end their lives?

Are you sick or what? Hug the man for -blam!-s sake. Do something GOOD for humanity and stop that person from killing himself.

thats what im thinking. suicide is wrong, helping someone commit suicide is WORSE.
Sure suicide isn't a pretty topic to talk about. But when a lot of people think about assisted suicide, they think that you're helping someone hang themselves or other messed up stuff like that because don't have the option to go to a hospital and doing it.Euthanizing is painless.

It goes against the Hypocritical Oath so the patient would need good luck to find a single professional to do it.

So a terminally ill cancer patient that feels extreme pain every second of their life, feels like their skin is on fire, and is living in a hell you wouldn't let that person die? Or would you rather have them suffer for another 6 months and then die by themselves anyway?

Physician assisted suicide is when a doctor gives a terminal person (someone who is suffering and will likely die soon) drugs that will cause them to die peacefully.

It's not used for people who are depressed, or have a treatable illness.

If you commit/attempt suicide you clearly aren't in a right state of mind

It's legal in Oregon, the patient just has to self administer the drug.

I'd love to commit suicide, and I have no mental or psychological problems diagnosed of me aside from ADHD

You'd 'love to commit suicide'? Barring you having any condition that inhibits quality of life (paralyzed, tumor) then yes I would say you are mentally unstable.

I provided a good example in my last post. People who have Alzheimer's disease slowly lose all their mental faculties, their memory, and eventually muscle control. They have to be fed with a tube and can't control their bowels. Some people would rather die in the early stages, before they're completely gone, instead of losing who they are and suffering such terrible indignities.

I think it's completely reasonable for someone to not want to go through that.
