Good, OP. The police force really does abuse their power most of the time. It's good to see someone finally put them in their place.

Put them in their place? $45 is gas money.

Congratulations! You completely wasted both yours and his time, and $45. Thank you OP, for showing us that no one except me is Above The Law.
I laughed.

I didn't know wasting time and money over an insignificant situation was a principle.

It's not about the money, it's the principle of the situation.

You did it? You took a man to court for a crime with the monetary worth... of $45?

Because parking wrong outside a 711 is abusing power.

Anytime a police officer breaks the law and expects to get away with it, he is abusing his power.

Wow, $45! How many hours did you spend researching all this? And as a follow up, do you honestly think it was worth it? You're not a hero or a rolemodel for doing this, you're just an assclown.

Parking outside of a 7-11 isn't an abuse of power. Parking in the emergency lane outside of the 7-11 to get a soda is an abuse of power.

Pretty douchey thing of you.

It's douchey to hold the police force responsible for breaking laws that they're supposed to enforce?

I wonder if the place he would have been at the time instead of in court a real crime could have been prevented.

How often do Emergencies strike a 7-11 that aren't at Two AM? Chances are, the Emergency Lane probably wouldn't even be used in certain scenarios.

And many people break the law and expect to get away with it. Something like this is so trivial it shouldn't even be a problem. But by all means, waste the departments time for trivial issues and look like an idiot in front of your local community.

If I saw some average Joe parked wrong, I wouldn't care. But the fact that he's a police officer changes things.

Can you call abuse of power on an average citizen that breaks the law and expects to get away with it?

Odds are, if you are knowingly breaking the law, you are expecting to get away with it. Nobody has proof that he origininally parked there knowingly breaking the law with the thought that he can because he's a police officer, so how can you point abuse of power at him? What the OP did was make the officer submit to the law he is sworn to enforce, nothing more.

It is not an abuse of power case, it is a "you broke the law so you should be held responsible just as I would be," case.
