Like it was posted earlier, cops are human, humans make mistakes. I have not heard of any cop that carries an entire copy of their State Statute with them memorized. Maybe he didn't know he was breaking a violation. As states earlier, if the OP was truly concerned, he would've done the right thing and told the cop, the OP accomplished nothing by this event. He isn't showing people to "stand up" to something, he isn't proving a point, the Op did nothing more than waste someones time along with his own.

That's the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard. "Humans make mistakes"? That doesn't give someone a free pass for breaking the law.
Let's say I parked in that spot. A cop gives me a ticket. Can I say "humans make mistakes"? Can I say "I don't hold a copy of my State Statute, I didn't know I was breaking a violation"?
No. I can't do that. I would get a ticket, same as anyone else would. Including a cop.
