Subject: The procedures for IAMA???

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

This thread comes to mind

People may have unique jobs/done cool things which can make interesting discussion.

How should we approach this?

Should a user PM a mod with proof and then have a mod edit the thread saying it is "confirmed"?

I like your idea, even though it would probably be rarely used.

  • 12.02.2012 7:56 PM PDT

'IAMA?'

Anyways, I'm sure it was the part about spamming somebody's inbox, not the part about it being a lie.

I am a, it is basically an abbreviation for the same thing as on Reddit which is people post stories about what they have done or who they are. (like famous people, people with cool jobs, etc).

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Simple: go to Reddit.

  • 12.02.2012 8:24 PM PDT

reddit go away
there are very few people here who have jobs that would be even remotely interesting.

There's nothing to approach. You can post whatever you life as long as you follow the rules of this website. People can either choose to believe your or not.

The difference between what you're suggesting and what was linked was that the linked thread was designed to harass someone.

IMO, these threads are dumb. If I cared about your profession, I would look it up myself. If you want to make a thread with discussion value about a profession, then that's fine. But just "I'm a _______, ask me questions!" is not.

AMA's are almost solely found on that site, and these types of threads are better suited for Reddit, not B.Net. I'm not saying AMA threads should be locked, but I don't think they belong on this site.

Just as almost every other conceivable topic is. Why bother having this discussion here if we could be having it on Reddit instead?

Let me reword what I said. I cannot think of any other site that does regular AMA's, while off-topic threads and forums are present on every type of site that has forums.

To answer your second retort/question. I don't really have a solid idea as to why, it's just my opinion. I feel as though B.Net is a completely different kind of site when compared to Reddit, so maybe that's where I get my it from.

This brings us back to a few 'I'm a girl on the internet ask me anything and i'll do a video reply' threads a month or two ago.

I said it was stupid and should have been locked, nothing was done. lol.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

I lock all AMA threads I come across here. They do not remain on-topic, are often flamebait, are rarely interesting, and nearly always spawn parody threads. Reddit's format is FAR better suited to AMA threads than this forum.

So the procedure for AMA threads is don't post them.
