brutes charging are fastest

and what's the easter egg on the h1 shotgun.

obviously not story, but, whatever.

falling damage is a matter of gameplay, and a sorely missed element at that.

beginning of two betrayals, 343 relates a short story where the mc apparently asked him a question, he responds to this question as such, "when you asked, if i'd do it, the answer is still yes" or something like that
when the hell did that conversation originally arise? i used to think i knew where, but at some point along the line i forgot the dialogue, or even time of the conversation between the two that discussed this

Okay, out of those four questions, I only understood two. You need to rephrase some.

The easter egg on the shotgun was the hippo mark on the shells.

And as for the conversation, I have two possible answers. Either:

a. Guilty Spark and the Master Chief discussed that in a period that wasn't in gameplay or a cutscene.

Or, much more likely:

b. Guilty Spark was just being systematic, and saw all humans alike, Spartans, marines, ODSTs, and so on. If that were the case, a "Reclaimer" from before asked him the question. Proof of earlier "Reclaimers" exists in The Flood, pages 244-245.

Question: This may have been answered before, and if it has, can you redirect me? How do the underground coordinates/directions work in Halo? How is it that Foehammer descends beneath the surface, and yet, after emerging from the corridors, how is it that there is another part of Halo underneath? (Or if it is under at all)

A diagram would help clear this up, if available.

Well, Cortana states that there is a series of tunnels beneath the surface, which circle the whole ring. One entry point was that structure on the Cartographer Isle. Foe Hammer just had to descend through there and follow the tunnels to the Control Room's coordinates.

After John's augumentation upgrade, how many ODSTs does he fight in the boxing ring?

Two.
l don't know, l thought it was three.

To sharpshooter_125, here's a crappy paint diagram of the tunnel system. it wouldn't be a straight line, but that's the basic idea. As you can see the area you emerge from is actually above ground inside the canyon wall.

Matt, my man. Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense. And M41 LAAG, great diagram. Excellent work.

So, they took the tunnels, then emerged into a forerunner structure. Okay... Trying to work this in my head. But this doesn't really explain how FoeHammer said "These coordinates are UNDERGROUND!" Wouldn't Cortana just be leading the pelican to the opening above ground?

"And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth" Genesis 1:17

Okay, I've read through all 27 pages of this thread and I'm ready to lay down some questions (before my eyes bleed out).

1. Who are the remaining Spartan-IIs?
2. Who is the only Spartan that Master Chief has posted as KIA?
3. What does ONI stand for?
4. What is the one thing Master Chief isn't good at (or he hates doing)?
5. Which came first: Halo or Marathon? (as in story timeline)
6. Which is bigger: Alpha Halo or Delta Halo?
7. What is Bungie's explaination for the "Grunt Crossing" sign? And what's your explanation just for the hell of it?
8. In "The Flood," a "dumb" ground combat AI is mentioned. What is his name and who did he belong to?
9. Only two people were mentioned as being able to remain conscience while being Flood-infected. Who were they?
10. How old is the Pillar of Autumn?
11. Captain Keyes' first ship (under his command) was the Iroquis. What was on that ship that was deemed illegal, but kept anyways?
12. The hybrid ship in "First Strike" was made of which two ships?
13. How did Master Chief, Cortana, and Sergeant Johnson make it back to Earth?
14. "So Johnson, when you gonna tell me how you made off of Halo in one piece?"
15. "Why was it not destroyed with the rest of the fleet?"
16. What is Sgt. Johnson's speech in the opening cutscene of Halo while on Heroic?
17. What are the gunnery sergeant's dying words on Cairo station while on Legendary?
18. Who was Yayap the grunt assigned to serve in "The Flood?"
19. This probably has nothing to do with Halo and I'm okay if you refuse to answer this, but- Spartan-458 Nicole appears in the game Dead or Alive 4, what station do you fight her on?
20. What is the size of the structure seen in the Halo 3 trailer?

So there's 20 questions. Knock yourself out. More to come.

1. John, Linda, Will, Fred, Kelly and Kurt.
2. Sam, I believe.
3. Office of Naval Intelligence.
4. Being on ships during battles.
5. Halo. Halo was in the 2500's, whereas Marathon was in the 2700's.
6. Delta Halo, I believe.
7. I don't exactly recall, but I remember them saying something about there being Grunts on Earth, so they had the signs there.
8. Wellsey, he belongs to Major Silva.
9. Private Wallace Jenkins, and Captain Jacob Keyes.
10. I don't know exactly, but I know it's very old.
11. Ooh, I don't recall. I need to reread The Fall of Reach.
12. The Gettysburg and Ascendant Justice.
13. They made it back on the Gettysburg, after destroying the Unyielding Hierophant. If that answer isn't good enough, elaborate your question.
14. "Sorry Guns, it's classified."
15. "It fled. As we set fire to their planet, and I followed with all the ships in my command."
16. "Men, here is where we show those split-chin squid-head sons of -blam!-s that they could not have picked a worse enemy than the human race. We are going to blow the hell out of those dumb bugs until we don't have anything left to shoot 'em with! And then, we are going to strangle them with their own-living-guts! Am I right, marines?!"
17. It varies from time to time. Sometimes "Get the hell out of my armory, spilt lip!", or "Just what this place needed! A couple of real live targets". That's all I know.
18. Spec Ops Elite Zuka 'Zamammee.
19. In the Haloverse, it's the Cairo Station, but I don't know if it's different in DoA 4.
20. Not sure, honestly.

"And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth" Genesis 1:17

1. Correct.
2. Sam is listed as MIA still, Grace is the only KIA Spartan.
3. Correct.
4. Correct. However just saying he hates space works too.
5. Correct.
6. Correct.
7. Bungie's explanation for the "Grunt Crossing" sign was that the New Mombasa city council works really fast, and within that one day of fighting, they were able to put up signs to warn people of Grunts in the road.
8. Correct. But I think its spelled Welsey.
9. Correct.
10. I agree. I don't remember either.
11. Red slash marks painted on the side.
12. Correct. (That one was easy)
13. Correct. I'll take that.
14. Correct.
15. Correct.
16. Correct.
17. Correct. Although I think its only the first one.
18. Correct.
19. In DoA 4, it's the Nassau station.
20. Someone calculated it to be 3 miles wide.

Yeah, that is pretty good. A couple more questions:
1. By biological mental capacity, which is smarter; a Brute or an Elite?
2. What is the difference between the sword in Halo and the sword in Halo 2? (And I don't just mean you can wield one).
3. What team is (or would) Master Chief on? And what is his numeric designation on that team?
4. According to Grif and Simmons, what should the name of the Warthog be? (Hey, its Halo related, believe me.)
5. Name the 8 (or 9) places that you fight on throught the two games.
6. What was the multiplayer map Chiron TL84 actually meant for?
7. Just for kicks and giggles, what happens on the 117th pages of the first three books? (Not Ghosts of Onyx because I haven't read it yet.)

We're both wrong, it's Wellsley, I just checked the book.

1. I'd say the Elite, really. They seem far more intelligent than the Brute.
2. The design and name. In Halo CE it was the Plasma Sword, and in Halo 2 it was the Energy Sword.
3. Spartan Blue Team, Blue-1, SPARTAN-117.
4. The Puma. Although they did throw out Leprechaun, Unicorn, Sasquatch, and Chupathingy, which is what they actually named it.
5. Elaborate, please.
6. It was a SPARTAN-II training compound.
7. FoR: The SPARTANs are trained in prototype MJOLNIR armor.
TF: The Chief rescues Captain Keyes, and Cortana briefs them on the Control Room.
FS: The SPARTANs attack armys of Covenant on Reach.

Dag yo.

Okay: 5. Name the 8 (or 9) places that you fight on throughout the two games. (As in ships, platforms, landmasses, cities, gigantic superstructures, planets, or anything else stand-on-able; for example, Halo is one of these places) (Note: "you" refers to both the Master Chief and the Arbiter)

I'm not sure. Marcus Lehto comes to mind, but I may be thinking of something else.

"And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth" Genesis 1:17

Let's see, for my second set you got:
1. Correct. It's more of a who do you like best type of question, however Elites do have higher mental capacities simply because the don't go berserk.
2. Correct. It's a plasma sword in Halo and its an energy sword in Halo 2.
3. Correct.
4. Correct.
5. Correct. I said it might be 9 because of the ship where Captian Keyes dies might not have been Truth and Reconciliation.
6. Correct.
7. I'll keep your word on that one, I'm not gonna look it up. But I'm pretty sure its correct.

So you got all of those right! Sweet!
