Subject: Governments want to censor the internet.... again!

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

So...err....does anyone have a list of the 42 countries that want to censor the internet? Also, does anyone have an idea of what sort of censorship we are talking about? I just want to:

a) Make sure that we aren't trying to keep kiddy Pn on the internet.

b) We aren't wasting our time protesting Burmese censorship. That's just too hipsterish for me.

I think I'd thrust Google on this one.
Also even if it's "good" censorship, most people don't want any... something about freedom and liberty and -blam!-. I have to agree that we do need some sort of place where there's ultimately no censorship and no rules etc.

So you would blindly follow a for-profit corporation?

Keep in mind, that's exactly what Google is. They are on this planet to make money. They social stuff is just a tactic.

Its true. I don't trust ANYONE to make my mind up for me.

So is SOPA doing anything positive? It's been continually supported by the RIAA which is reason enough to know it's bad news.

They trust Google, but not the RIAA member companies, even though both are in it for the same thing.

Money.

A completely free and open Internet benefits Google's pocketbook. A regulated Internet benefits the RIAA's pocketbook.

Hopefully they'll eventually learn that beneath every opinion, especially a corporate one, is a monetary incentive.

What's the worst that could happen if I vote? Google already knows my name and where I live. Hell, they even know my bank account details, from whenever I've bought something online. I don't think sighing this petition would help them do something they couldn't without it.
Also, you can't really thrust anyone, but that's something different...

Yeah, well even the devil can take the right side.

It's just a matter of what will make them profit. SOPA is NOT good for the masses.

Canadian Nazism is a polite ideology, ok?
"Into the boxcar now... there you go. Oh, watch your head. Here, let me help you... Yep, showers are right through there. No problem at all."

Why is this relevant?

Watch out. If I post in your thread, chances are it'll die. I've been cursed, and if I kill your thread, I'm sorry.

Why would the internet need censored? Because they are afraid of being exposed for doing something the people didn't want them to do?

Which is fair enough and true. I'm just making the distinction between people like you and people who under the disbelief that Google is looking out for their best interests or somehow is the people's champion in this Internet fight.

Google is looking out for Google.
