Subject: Presentations.

Boy, are they awkward or what.

What was your worst experience like?

  • 12.03.2012 8:17 AM PDT

I was shaking all over during a History presentation earlier this year. Maybe not the worst, but it's the first that came to mind.

  • 12.03.2012 8:18 AM PDT

Not really.

The last time I have one I spoke for twice as long as I should have (about 40 minutes total) and still got 100%.

Hey, uh, if you like vs threads, then check out this little group right here, if you have the time. It's pretty fun, just hop right in.

I'm always dreading it but when I finally go up there the fear kind of goes a way, at least a bit.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

I've actually become pretty good at them. The last really big one I've had to deliver was the Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition at USD. It was just short of an hour, and the judges were venture capitalists. We won the competition. I guess I did my part.

-I was here

In kindergarten, I was apparently the smartest kindergartener in the entire ghetto -blam!- public school I attended at the time, and as such, was expected to go up with the other smart student and give a pre-written introduction speech at kindergarten graduation. Being already shy and afraid of large groups, it didn't help the fact that the group I was speaking to was comprised mostly of kids who had already bullied me or wanted to bully me for being white/smart.

"I will show you how a true Prussian officer fights!"

"And i will show you where the iron crosses grow..."

- "Cross of Iron"

I loved speaking to my classmates in senior year about foreign policy. It feels great to teach others.

The more I say Chang the more asian it sounds.

Never had a horrible one. Speeches are one of my proficiencies back at school.

All you gotta do is keep calm and present whatever you're tasked to, and throw in some added humour or minor entertainment to relieve the audience of any boredom.

My worst speaking experience was back when I was teaching Intro to Psychology in grad school. I was doing a section on the effects of certain drugs on the brain and my entire class rebelled. According to them, the clinical evidence was unconvincing and I was a tool of the man trying to keep them from having fun.

I'm a fan of the Extreme Presentation method of planning out my conference talks. Yes, it's a silly name but the methodology has worked well for me.

Yeah once I gave a presentation about My Little Pony but for some reason everybody laughed at me. I just don't understand what people don't get about the life lessons Friendship is Magic can give to society.

So confused guys tell me what was wrong. I felt so happy and proud to present, they even laughed when I showed them my Pinky Pie plush toy. They even laughed at my shirt guys, my shirt!
