Subject: Halo 4 Spartan Ops Episode 5: Thoughts?

Personally I thought this episode was fantastic, The cinematics seem to be picking up a little, pretty sure thorne is dead, along with crimson(thought they would have something ad happen due to the achievment)

The chapters were pretty challenging this week compared to last week, still ticked we have no original maps but surprisingly the way they alter the maps gives it some freshness.

I haven't seen it yet. It will be on YouTube soon, though.

Got it.

I liked it. Spartan Ops overall is probably my favorite part of Halo 4 other than the campaign. It is just good fun aside from the frustrating multiplayer.

I dont really find this complaint to be valid. No one ever compalined about FF maps being the same over and over. Not to mention at least they use different areas of each map and there are vehicles, as well as objectives.

Halo without Bungie is like a cookie made without love.

Best thing about the episode, No Palmer.

Firefight was not story based and did not advertise itself as a second campaign.

I do not remember ever seeing one advertisement saying it was a second campaign.

People will complain no matter what.

Thats how most objective types work in terms of a story. Kill enemies, get to this point, activate this, defend this. There's more of the defending part in this new episode.

Unlike Spartan OPS Firefight only reuses an area once for a map. Spartan OPS keeps reusing the same areas in every episode.

As well as objectives.
Almost every objective is the same thing.
Crimson, goddamn eggheads pushed a button, now do the same! Oh no Crimson what's going on? you pushed another button and now there's prometheans everywhere! Elite warrior platoon, go out there and rescue some marines? Oh wait they're gone, why don't you fight some covenant who just happen to be there on your way? How about pushing another button? Make sure you don't skip the button on the other side of the map. Guess what, there's another one on the exact same position there was last time. Push it. Push that button Miller. Hnnnngg.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/24/halo-4-spartan-ops-dlc -is-longer-than-odst

"Spartan Ops is a new story-driven game mode set to feature in Halo 4 and will replace the Firefight mode that appeared in Halo 3: ODST. Gamers can play it on their own or co-operatively with up to three other players, and the first Season of Spartan Ops plans to deliver five new objective-based missions and cinematics each week over a 10-week period. It's this content taken in isolation that Ellis has claimed will consist of more content than Halo 3: ODST."

Depends on how you define "content," I guess...

The point is that it's boring. A story-driven campaign can't just re-use the same locations and objectives every single week. That's boring. I know Halo CE re-used environments in its campaign, but it didn't do it every single level and it did use different BSPs, unlike Spartan Ops which literally dumps you in the exact same maps week after week.

It's boring.

The CG series is well done and I like watching new episodes on YouTube, but the levels themselves aren't worth my time. I don't like the disconnect between the CG episodes and the levels either. It's not a focused integrated experience. It's like, "Here's the new cutscene, now go do something completely unrelated to it for five missions."

That was different. Spartan ops is an actual story.

Spartan Ops is an actual story, the fact that they reuse so many times the same map makes it feel like a fan-made campaign.

I enjoyed it, but I'm having an issue with one of the achievements. Other than that I enjoyed it pretty well.

So what's the deal with Halsey? I'm confused.
