Steam

Whether you think the organisers of the Humble Bundle were right to host a Windows only, Steam only bundle of great games (and Red Faction: Armageddon), it's been a pretty good move for THQ. Since the pay-what-you-want sale went live, not only has the site raised almost $3.3 million, but it's had positive effect on the company's share price too.

Discuss.

It hurts me to think that the idiot who wrote that article thinks that share price means anything when comparing companies.

We can just be real and say the company has lost 90% of its value in a year. It is in the dump.

Watch out. If I post in your thread, chances are it'll die. I've been cursed, and if I kill your thread, I'm sorry.

Where can I get these "free" games?

They're not free.

Recon Number 54 -
If they are still looking, then while holding the snarl, I let drool start to drip from my mouth, I stand, curl my fingers into claws and with a hunched over crouch, I then make slow and deliberate steps towards them. When I get close enough, I let them hear my agonized and gasping growls and then, if they continue to stare, when I get within arm's reach? I kiss them on the nose, and run away giggling.

Hopefully they don't go under completely, they did help make Dawn of War.

But the bullcrap over online passes and the abomination that was Red Faction Armageddon deserves some payback.

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

THQ servers suck donkey balls.

I don't understand. So if I pay above the average like 7 dollars I get all of those games? Or just their keys?

There's no difference.

Well it said in the video you only get the keys if you pay 1 dollar and you have to pay another dollar to get the games...?

  • 12.03.2012 10:45 AM PDT

Good for them. They gave all of it to charity.

The keys are to unlock the games via steam, and you download the games and you can play them.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

When you're talking about a stock that went from $1.40 to $1.60, that's not very impressive. Stocks under $2/share tend to have wild fluctuations for a huge variety of reasons, sometimes not even having anything to do with what the company is doing.

  • 12.03.2012 10:51 AM PDT

On the Left

CamCamm: How does that work?

Good for them. They gave all of it to charity.

They probably didn't.
They have a lot of financial problems at the moment (read: not enough money). The reason they did the humble bundle was to get more money so that they can get their games out (Company of Heroes 2, Metro: Last Light, etc)

Hopefully they will survive. It would be a shame to see them go bankrupt.

Yes they are. Do you have any idea how screwed their company would be if they weren't? You can't be serious, the whole point of it WAS for charity.

You apparently have no clue what was going on.

It was up to the consumer to choose whether the money went to THQ or charity - or a mixture of the two. The default option was 80% to THQ. The charitable portion also ends up being a tax writeoff for THQ come the end of the year.
