Led Zeppelin is objectively the best band since the 70s. Fact.
I strongly question this notion.

They were brilliant performance artists but they weren't the most original, interesting or creative bunch.

They appealed the best to everyone though. Common listeners loved them because of their catchy music and laid back style, and musicians adore them because of everyone in the band is considered one of the best in rock at their particular instrument. They found the perfect balance between making music for "casuals" and keeping it engaging for "hardcores".

Also what are your guys opinions on Oasis? I feared putting them that far up the list but I figured since Definitely Maybe and Whats the Story Morning Glory are up with the greatest albums of all time I'd put them up there.

I just find it strange that people get all excited when they find another fan of an extremely popular band that they like.

I get excited, because everyone in my school only cares about One Direction, Dead Kennedys, Modest Mouse, Deadmaus, and all that other crap.

Breaking Benjamin, Halestorm, Three days grace, Alicia Keys,(I know she's not in a band.) Linkin Park.

Kill yourself. Or, actually pick up an instrument and refine your taste of the music beyond that of an angsty 12 year olds.

OP YOU ARE AMAZING! Awesome sense in music.

I would just have to narrow it down to Led Zeppelin though. They are freaking awesome.
His list is hardly anything special, millions of people certainly agree.

Hipster alert.
I just find it strange that people get all excited when they find another fan of an extremely popular band that they like.

How old are you (not meaning that disrespectfully)? Because it seems to me that a vast majority of people around my age group (16) have an absolutely horrid sense of music. There are only a select few people in my school that like classic rock as I do.

There's more to the "hardcore" aspect than just being good at your instrument.

Not to mention that pretty much every genre they touched, they turned it to gold. You think they aren't original? Just listen to The Rain Song or Stairway to Heaven. I know it might not impress you that much, but it takes a special kind of musician to appreciate the pure and utter genius it takes to create something like that.

There's more to the "hardcore" aspect than just being good at your instrument.

They used interesting scales and intervals beyond pentatonic stuff, and Black Dog is still a freaking mystery as to what's going on with its counting. What do you mean? When I say hardcore, I mean people who need complex compositions to keep them from getting bored.

I just find it strange that people get all excited when they find another fan of an extremely popular band that they like.

My favorite band is considered extremely popular (which isn't Led Zeppelin), yet I don't know a single kid in my school who knows their music beyond singles.
Which band is this?

And popular does not necessarily mean in your age group. Yes a lot of them might not know or like them but don't think of yourself as being a special unique snowflake because you like classic rock.

That said, it's still good.

Fair point, musically they did some interesting stuff.

Not sonically interesting however, but that's a different ballpark really.

Two movies you should watch: Fight Club and Pineapple Express

"Wait. What do you mean, it's dead?"
"If marijuana is not legal within the next five years I have no faith left in humanity, period. Everyone likes smoking weed. They have for thousands of years. They're not going to stop anytime soon. You know? It makes everything better. Makes food taste better, makes music better. It makes sex feel better for God's sake. It makes -blam!- movies better you know?"

I don't listen to old bands like guns and roses because most of the songs sound like -blam!- imo and don't have a meaning.

OT: breaking Benjamin, chevelle, and linkin park(just because). There are others but I'm too lazy to name them.
