-blam!- the police.

Do what you want OP, you don't have to be part of the -blam!- system.

Now sit down and pull your pants back up.

I have to say I feel sorry for you OP, but you were pretty stupid.

1. You took it out in a time that wasn't an emergency.
2. You did it in front of a lot of people.
3. A plastic knife does the job just fine.

Do you think their actions are justified?

Yes. It's your own fault for bringing a knife to school. It's not like you have a job where you use one and you accidentally left it on you. You knew knifes are not aloud, but you still brought one. Just because it's only 2 inches doesn't mean you can't do some serious damage with it.

I know my actions are stupid and when I think back on it I definitely shouldn't have done it(hindsight's 20/20) but at the time I thought that if the blade was smaller than your hand it would be ok if it was used for obviously non-violent reasons(unless skinning a grapefruit is considered as violent :/ ) so I didn't know it wasn't allowed

  • 12.03.2012 3:15 PM PDT

Why are you here?

Kind of a dumb move if you ask me. Didn't you know knives are banned?

A couple times on accident I brought my pocket knife to school in my flannel pocket. I was paranoid the whole day that one of my classes was going to be selected for a random search, like they do.

Plastic knifes don't work, I've tried. Successfully skinning grapefruit or oranges is actually a lot harder than it seems, you have to only cut of the orange, and leave the pulp/fiber really thick, otherwise is explodes in your hand when you squish it

Nahman Jayden, Eff bee eye. I herd that you're the origammy killah...

Just a security precaution. The pfficer was doing his job, however, you don't deserve punishment. Just dont bring a knife to school again, bro.

You done screwed up.

Everyone knows that nearly every school has a zero tolerance policy. They have to throw the book at you. If they don't they could lose their jobs. It doesn't matter how anyone feels about it. Your parents pushed these laws into existence, and now you get to pay for it.

It doesn't matter how small it is, its still a knife. I doubt that a small knife can't kill people like bigger ones.

You should have known not bring any kind of blade but I don't think expulsion or criminal charges is necessary.

Basically this, health and safety is absolutely nuts these days, sadly until the world mans up and stops going crazy when kids get bruised knees it's not gonna change, they are unjustified, but be very careful from now on.

I would expect they'll just give you a good shouting and maybe make you watch some knife crime educational videos, nothing serious.

You're an idiot, and no one should feel sorry for you. You brought a knife to school, what did you expect was going to happen?

To make it look something like this, right?(which is pretty -blam!- job at skinning it, but that's beside the point). Not like this. If you meant the first one, then congrats, you're better at using a plastic knife than me

  • 12.03.2012 3:28 PM PDT

At least I didn't get kil-

Yeah, um, you should have known better. Seriously.

~khristian

wow you got yourself in a bad situation. hmm i guess you might be able to get out of being expelled (and maybe criminal charges) if you get a good lawyer and present your case well, i mean all you wanted was to enjoy a grapefruit.
and by the way i want to major as an aeronautical engineer too.

Love all the folks acting as the though the OP killed somebody and calling him an idiot. I will concede that he was foolish to bring a knife to school with zero-tolerance policies in force, but honestly this highlights the failure of those policies.

Good for the school, they got one person who didn't harm anybody with his small knife and whose life will probably be negatively harmed by expulsion if it comes to that. Now how about all those bullying cases that go unreported each year or the lack of effort gone to stop bullying? All these policies do is make it look like the school is being responsible. If someone is committed to inflicting harm on the student body, those rules won't do jack.

So sorry you made a mistake OP, but you are just a victim of the overzealous rules made to make kids feel safe...yet don't.

So, when you get to prison, just make sure to find the biggest guy, and bet him up. That way everyone knows not to mess with you. That, and have your mom bring you soap on a rope.

  • 12.03.2012 3:30 PM PDT

He brought a knife to school. Which is an idiotic action. Therefore, he was temporarily an idiot. Not hard to understand at all.

  • 12.03.2012 3:30 PM PDT

;)

If you do get expelled, get a lawyer and tell the local media. You'll be back in school in no time.

Being alone.
You're a mod, you should be used to that.

I brought a knife almost every day to my school, I could of gotten away with it too because I went to a private school.

  • 12.03.2012 3:34 PM PDT

The large amount of support I see for an idiotic zero tolerance policy in this thread makes me want to cry.

Couldn't you have brought some like flimsy, plastic knife? Like those really dull ones..

How much do you guys want to bet that in every school in American there are dozens of people with knives on them? They certainly aren't getting caught, the OP merely got caught because he revealed he had it to the faculty, unwittingly of course.
