One does not choose a destiny, his destiny is bestowed, shaped and formed, from the soul.
So I had this idea for a zombie game. It's got a bunch of elements from different games.
So the game starts and you create a character, which you can do so from a decent amount of options and can use a similar type face generator like game face in EA Sports games. Once done with that you get into a lobby type thing, so lets say your playing with 10 friends including yourself.
The game starts and it puts you and your friends into a scenario, which could be one out of about 25. These scenarios can take place up to 5 days before the zombie apocalypse starts, or about 2 days after. But the catch is you don't know where you fall into the time frame so your paranoid. So the scenario is that your at a party in an apartment. It's just you and your friends with NPC's scattered about. You can interact with the environment and hold conversations similar to mass effect (ME 1 amount of choices). You hang around for like 5 minutes just checking everything out. You get used to the controls, and the POV settings (you can switch between first and third person) eventually a dude walks in and looks a little sick. Be in mind you and your friends want to survive the course of the game so your not sure if he's a zombie or just a genuinely sick kid.
One thing leads to another, and he's a kid who's infected, and two NPC's take him to the bathroom to help him feel better. You then hear screaming and then he comes out all bloody cause he just killed one of them. Now here's where the mechanics are interesting. There is no party chat and you can only hear each other from a certain distance, and ambient noises will cover up your voices. You can pick up almost any object and even put some things together. Example: you close a door on the zombie and your in the kitchen. There's a broom, some duct tape and a knife. Tape the knife to one end and boom you have a spear. Once he gets in you kill him.
This game lasts until you all die, and once your dead, your dead. Unless you make it so you can have spawns. You can be infected, you have to eat drink and all the other things. Day and night cycles and weather system.
There is a progression system though. But in a GTA San Andreas kind of way. If you run a lot you can run farther distances eventually. You can break bones and all that.
Now here's where it gets even better.
The world has a finite amount of objects (ex: cars, guns, bullets and all that). Same thing goes with zombies, there will be a enormous amount of them, but you can kill them all after an incredibly long period of time.
The map is the size of Day-Z's map, possibly bigger.
Not all the NPC's Will die, and you can establish camps, bases and other things. You can run into bandits that will try and kill you or run into a family that you will aid, and in return they help you out along the way.
Guns are relatively rare, but go into a house and you'll find a gun every once and a while in a basement or drawer. But Melee weapons is the most abundant resource, and can break, but of course can be repaired.
You can drive vehicles, some broken, some not. But just like you have to maintain yourself, you have to maintain your car. You can also customize your self with gear you find, or make. Ex: Kevlar vests, or vest you made out of sheet steel.
TLDR: Read
So, what do you like and what don't you like?
