The most dangerous gunslinger in the west.

People do that? I just call it the UK.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

For the same reason I get Canadians and Americans mixed up. I'm not from that part of the world, so I don't know as much about the dialects and regions as the locals.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Because we aren't from the UK and don't really feel all that compelled to learn the difference. I understand it, but it just isn't all that important to most people.

Just my 2 cents.

I am a Floodian

I think when we use the United Kingdom in place of England, or vice versa it's because we are only talking about England. We don't use UK for Scotland or Northern Ireland, for example. Also, no one cares about Wales.

Sorry Wales.

1) I didn't hear very much about Wales, Ireland or Scottland in history class, instead it was filled with England invade this, and England colonized that.

2) The language spoken most commonly the UK is called English. If I am not mistaken, England and English seem to have something to do with each other.

I could pose the question of people who use the word "Americans". After all, there are three Americas; North, Central, and South. Why is it that citizens of the United States are the only ones called "Americans"?

EDIT: Silly me, I misspelled Wales.

Made it into the update!

English=/=Scottish
Scottish=/=Irish
Irish=/=English
and none = Wales

Great Britain and United kingdom are just fuzzy terms of coalition which involve at least England.

Don't really need to know about the dialects etc when they're two distinct countries.

OT: I know the difference between them all.

You should break the stereotype you have and try to learn more about other country's you are not from.Did they not teach you any of this in school?

Would you like to name all of the 50 states in America and their capitals?

Its not my actions that define me, but under what light I'm being looked upon.

British culture dictates so, but thats what you get when your an island nation. Americas so vast trade links were less important; the ignorant culture reflects this.

Why do you always think the United Kingdom/Britain=England? I always notice its always people from the US that get it wrong

People in the UK and Europe also get it wrong mate, try again.

England is also the most influential and prominent figure- so it isn't all that difficult to see why.

It's the only country with America in its name, plus "united statesians" sounds stupid and doesn't roll off the tongue.

Yeah its funny though because right now England technically has zero power at all because it isn't a sovereign state

I would also suggest for you to learn to read, especially when I said I did know the difference between the UK, Britain and England.

I've met Canadians and asked what part of the States they're from. >_<

If you're talking about my side, then England, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all part of the United Kingdom. Wales isn't even a country.
