It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.
I honestly don't want games and movies to all be photorealistic. Yeah, some stories are better told looking real, namely modern dramas and war stories, such as Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc.
Most games would be better served with more creative visuals and color palettes, ones that will be vibrant and beautiful to look at.
That's not to say it can't look real. The characters don't have to be cartoons, but they don't need to look like they aren't CGI.

I too am disappointed with movies and games alike as of lately. One of the issues is the emphasis on improving graphics to photorealistic qualities. One thing that developers or gamers alike don't seem to realize is that concentating resources on visual enhancements does not make a fun game. Take the original Mario for example and give it realtime rendering with distance blur and ray tracing and tell me if it makes the game anymore fun to play than it already is.
I think what graphics are is a selling point, actually. What I mean by this is that with how spoiled we are, we expect every game out there to look like real life. If the game doesn't look fantastic, we don't even give it a chance. Take for instance when I tried playing FFVII and at first I wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole because the character models looked ridiculous. Only after awhile did I return to the game and after playing it for a bit, I discovered that it was as much of a piece of gold as everyone makes it out to be.
Video games shouldn't visually go back to the stone age but if there's anything I've learned, it's that gameplay should take complete priority over visual flair for that's what makes a game enjoyable. Gameplay first, visual design second.
