Dutch linesman bludgeoned to death
A Dutch man has died after being kicked and punched by a group of teenage football players for whom he acted as linesman in a Sunday league match. Richard Nieuwenhuizen, 41, collapsed and was taken to hospital hours after he was beaten by three players from Amsterdam club Nieuw Sloten. He died on Monday.

He had been officiating for Buitenboys club, in the town of Almere, and one of his own sons had been playing. Three teenagers, aged between 15 and 16, have reportedly been arrested.
Buitenboys club chairman Marcel Oost said Mr Nieuwenhuizen, 41, officiated as linesman for the team every week. "He enjoyed doing it. He was a real football man; he was always here," he told national broadcaster NOS.
News of his death sparked shock in sporting circles around the Netherlands. The Dutch minister for sports, Edith Schippers, said: "It is absolutely terrible that something like this can happen on a Dutch sports field". Anton Binnenmars, of the Royal Netherlands Football Association, described it as "too crazy for words that somebody involved in a sporting hobby becomes a victim of this kind of aggression".
Nieuw Sloten said it was "deeply shocked" by what had happened, and intended to ban for life the players found to be responsible, had pulled their team from the league and temporarily suspended all its operations as a club. "Violence should not be on the football fields," it said.

The Netherlands, Almere. After a football game between Amsterdam B1 and Almere B1, the 2nd referee, who was volunteering to flag the game, was kicked to death by the guest's 15/16 year old players.

It was a friendly match, there was already a little tension, because the he was the father of a player in the Almere's team. the score was 2-2, and the last goal by Amsterdam B1 was not accepted because it was an offside. After the final whistle, 5 players of the opposing team head towards the 2nd referee, pull him to the ground, and kick him multiple times.

He manages to get away, but they catch op to him and continue kicking him. When they are finished, the man crawls to the cafetaria, where he manages to tell the people what happened, but he faints and dies on his way/in the hospital.

The boys who kiled him are in court now, but they wont get the maximum punishment as it is not clear who had the killing kick.

For those of you wondering what kind of shoes he got kicked with...

Gather around the campfire, once it goes out, it's out for good.

Good thing their sports careers are absolutely ruined.

I've heard about the increasing violence occuring in Dutch soccer games. I find it very disturbing and I no longer consider soccer to be a 'sporting' business.

A large group of both the practitioners and their respective fanbase have become rotten at the core, only relapsing time after time to violence and money making.

Anyone that would do something that seriously foolish and violent over something as small as a game, one event to be precise (the offside), deserves a long and harsh punishment for societies sake.

This third world sport always brings out the scum.

Some people also say that they were only 15/16, so they should be judged in the children's law. That's bull-blam!-.

Last sunday a boy saw his father been kicked to death by the opposing soccer team. That should be punished harsh.

You can be a violent thug and still manage to get a career in football. Just look at Joey Barton.

Worst part is, it happend in Holland. Because of our majorly flawed legal system the offenders will probably either get away with it completely unharmed, or only slightly punished, but nothing major.

People murdering others only face 3 years of prison in Holland. Example

You can randomly attack someone, beat him to death, and face 3 years...

Utterly disgusting.

Amateur soccer player Silvester M. must go to prison for 3 years for delivering a fatal karate kick on a 77 year old supporter.

The court declared that the karate kick to the chest was fatal, the 77 year old supported died 1 month later because of it.

The person sueing him (Dont know the word in english) demanded 4 years for extreme assault with deadly end (death by assault)

The court had no evidence for manslaughter.

''Verdachte heeft zich schuldig gemaakt aan een daad van grof en excessief geweld tegen het nietsvermoedend slachtoffer'', luidde het vonnis.

The suspect has committed a crime with extreme violence against a non-prepared victim.

The punishment is also a example for others who commit violence during sportsgames

The 77 year old man was kicked because he applauded a red card (thrown out of the game) given to the player.

The player stated that he didn't want to kill the man, and he has never committed exessive violence before.

The court lowered the punishment because of this last fact.

This is just a summary of the "example"

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

He isn't that bad. Yeah, he is a major pleb. But I wouldn't put him in the category of 'thug'. Perhaps in the category 'man-child with a violent, physical temperament'.

OT: Horrible story. Those kids should all receive a very long custodial sentence each.

In the US, wouldn't matter. They'd all get manslaughter/second degree murder charges.

Oh Holland, why you so stupid.

Holy -blam!-, thats horrible. Hope those kids get the punishment they deserve.

Still better than you.

.....most of you, at least.

This is why Soccer is the worst.

But no seriously. That's absolutely disgusting. Completely -blam!- unreal. What bothers me as well is that there was no mention of anyone trying to stop them.

EDIT- I'd also like to add that I thought the title meant they'd already killed one referee, and then killed a second. Which made me more angry.

As someone who has refereed soccer for 7 years, I have heard and even witnessed some real horror stories, though obviously (and thankfully) nothing as bad as this.

Hey guys, wanna keep complaining about how football (handegg) is pointless and violent, while futbal is the best and safest sport ever?

No-one was around to stop them. After the 2nd assault, the boys were stopped, but it was already too late.

What the -blam!- is wrong with people? Dig a giant hole and put them in there. They deserve the worst.
