Subject: Dumbest thing I've seen on the Waypoint forums

He saying that 1-50 was removed because all they do is trash talk? His highest skill in 22, how can he even be matched up with a 50 unless it was in a social playlist that he so desperately defends? He's talking out of his ass saying things about 50's when he couldn't even get to 30. His viewpoint is that the competitive scene should give up and play social, and play nice. It's his way or the high way as far as he's concerned.

He has a differing opinion to you, so he is talking out of his ass. God, I hate you people, he isn't even trolling, or flaming, just telling how he prefers the game, and is no less correct than anyone else about it.

Rainbowdash hit it on the head with this Because it severely hampered Halo 3's community.

If you were a 49 or below you were 'bad'. If you used the AR you were 'bad', as my friend up there just so beautifully demonstrated.

In my opinion, we need to do away with the stat tracking and skill rankings and go back to the days of CE, where it was about action and fun.

What?

If you were a 49 I didnt think you were bad. Neither did alot of people. And I played 50 high MLG, yet I still didnt "hate on" 49s.

People who used AR as their primary weapon were mostly bad. Its a fact.

As for playing for "fun". You know whats fun for me? Playing a competitive match. Having a fair and non random game.

For the few 50s that didn't look down their noses at 49s and lower, there were far more vocal 50s that did. Sorry but that's how the world is. The very few bad tend to overshadow the good majority.

People who use AR as their primary weapon being bad is nothing but opinion but nice that you try to pass it off as fact with nothing to back it up. People who use AR as the primary weapon could also be relics from the days of Halo CE when there was no BR or DMR.

And you can have competitive matches, if a trueskill system is in place and is hidden. Why the need to see some number next to your name?

And stop with the whining about 'randomness.' Adapt. Randomness mixes it up. People had fun in Halo CE days, when there was no stat tracking. There was no tracking of how many you killed, headshots, WL ration, KD, etc... and people still managed to find a way to have fun without the need for competitive matches.

I like one of his ideas.

To prove you were good in Halo PC, you had to do well every match. There was no stat tracking, just an end of the game leaderboard.

Butt ugly ape” remarked Sergeant Johnson always making fun out of the situation even though he had been hit by a spiker round in the arm. He mustered up the strength to continue and the team moved on. The Arbiter informed him that the next room held The Prophet of Truth and this was the final room before extraction. Jun proposed that he takes a shot from a distance the prophet and they all head back to the ship bay for extraction. The team agreed on this and breached the last door…

Edit: I actually agree with what the Rainbowdash guy is saying. The reason why we don't have 1-50 is because we abused the system. People boosted and sold accounts, and it made the Halo community so unfriendly.
Should we also do away with kill to death ratios because people hold the objective and boost in grifball? And should we also get rid of our win loss ratios because some people standby others? I know some people who purposely go out of their way to boost kills for unusual weapons to get on the leaderboards, should we get rid of that statistic as well so they have no reason to cheat? Soon we'll have no statistics left.

Rank is just another statistic, and just because people can try to game the system doesn't mean we shouldn't have it around. The thing is, asshats will always find a reason to be an asshat to other people, we shouldn't let that stop people who legitimately care about improving from day to day and from having a way to track that improvement against the global population.

1. yeah, it sucks that the 50's were mean to you guys but apparently you guys dont care about ranks anyway right? So wheres the problem. Mute and move on.

2. If you compare people with an AR as a primary weapon to those with a BR. Its fact. Come on now.

3. It was hidden in reach too. Still, my team and I get matched up against randoms and we all go 30-0. Its not fun. i want to be challenged.

4. I cant adapt to randomness. Every single game I play in H4 has randomness. The best players do not always win. Thats a problem. Its literally unplayable.

5. Im aware of the CE days. I used to play in CE tournaments all the time. Im not some young kid. Ive experienced ever Halo game at its peak. CE and 2, were the most fun to me. Why? because they were the most competitive and least random.

He's making a valid complaint OP. I wasn't around when the whole Halo 3 50s mess was going on, but from what I can tell it was pretty bad.

Halo Reach ended with that problem, and now that so few people care about the competitive scene of Halo I don't think a 1-50 in Halo 4 will affect anyone that much.

I'd be confident to say that most Inheritors will already have their SR-130 before the new 1-50 system gets implemented, so why would they care?

No it wasn't. The only problem was the boosters. Other then that, just win.

I've read what Bungie had to say about that. Selling accounts was getting out of hand, and was giving the company a terrible reputation.

Reaching SR-130/Inheritor in 4/Reach doesn't show skill. After six months to a year, no one would be able to tell who earned that rank and who just Exp farmed in Firefight/Spartan Ops. What he wants is the competitive scene gone completely cause a few 50's called him out on being a BK? That's ridiculous. You're going to get trash talkers no matter where you go.

I'm only a 37 in Halo 3. I got trash talkers all the time. But Halo 3/4 are both M rated games. I'm a big boy, I can handle trash talking. 1-50 shouldn't be removed cause someones feelings were hurt just because he's not the best.

That's stupid. Why would a company give a damn what someone would do with their own account? Ranking to 50 was not difficult. Players just could not comprehend what such a simple system it was, and they go BNet complaining it's broken. It's the negative boosters that destroyed the ranking in the end. Not buying 50's.

1. 50s weren't "mean." They just come off as arrogant, pompous, haughty, holier-than-thou types and it is annoying. So anything they don't get is a plus. And why should you care about a visible ranking system if all you want is a ranking system and they hide it? Do those people really need to see a number going up next to there name to know they are having fun or getting better?

2. You still have not provided any evidence to AR primary usage equating to bad. Burden of proof is on you since you blindly stated that AR primary usage is bad or unskillful.

3. It was visible in Halo 3 and there were still matches 50s got placed with far lower numbers. It was visible in Halo 3 and second accounts were running rampant, ruining any chance that those who played H3 later on wouldn't get ranked with the appropriate players of equal skill. There were 50s running around as lower double digits, either to sell the account, because they liked crushing their opponent or for whatever other reason. And there were the 50s that deliberatly lost exp so that they could get placed with lower skilled players.

4. Humans can adapt to randomness. Living in nature is pure randomness. Anyone is able to adapt to randomness, it's more of whether you want to or not and it doesn't seem you want to.

5. Fun is subjective. Of course you hear more of the people who say that having fun in Halo has to do with ranks and competitiveness because the ones that simply play for fun (with no care whatsoever to ranks or stats) simply play for fun. They like the game for the simple reason of liking the game. They're definitely not going to make their voices or opinions heard because they are *gasp* casuals and care only about the fun.

Vocal minority is running rampant in the "Halo 4 is bad, fix it" arguments.

Everyone on waypoint talks out of thier ass.

In fact halo 3 ranked was one of the most hostile gaming enviroments. Modern day equivalent is Lol ranked.

My reaction to your LoL reference: HELL no.

In league, i'd enter a ranked match and bfeore anything started people would -blam!- about making the right champ choice. Then they would call out who they want to be and if u wanted someone specific they would troll you to no end. It was a horrifying experience. And one single -blam!- up in-game causes the whole team to whirl into chaos. If anything, the League community was 10x worse than Halo 3 ranked community.

I -blam!- loved the H3 ranked community and for a long time i'd be the one getting the brunt of the -blam!-ing. Honestly if you can't handle people talking trash then you shouldn't be playing competitive FPS games. Mute the -blam!- if you have to. It's really easy

  • 12.04.2012 11:56 AM PDT

I was never matched up with a 50 that didn't crush me. The funny thing is, I almost never got trash talked by a 50. I don't know where all this talk about Bungie losing reputation from it is coming from, but it clearly wasn't in Halo 3's prime because I don't recall visiting gaming news sites and forums with threads stating "Looks what's wrong with Bungie!".

No, the community was great. They actually cared about the game

Exploiting? By getting a 50? hey its not my fault getting a 50 was easy as hell.

Bungie was stronger than ever. Way stronger during H3 than they were during reach.

Because I stated the truth?

That's a new one. If 1-50 was so damn good, tell me why the creators of Halo decided to wipe it off their franchise?
