Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Who cares?

I've yet to find a reviewer that takes my tastes into account.

A better question is why would you or anyone have high expectations, or a sense of entitlement, for any quality of movie?

So reviews determine whether a film is a "flop" or not?

Then why are you speaking in the future tense?

I think it will be good, but not as good as Lord of the Rings.

I think Peter Jackson is trying to make this one super light, so each film can get darker and darker. Plus the Hobbit itself should never have been stretched out over three films.

Call me Rdog, not RdOG or RdOG1507. I made that username when I thought it was cool to use alternating capital and lowercase letters...

The one thing about reviews is that they're trying to find something negative about the movie. That's their job. 11 positives and 4 negatives on Rotten Tomatoes?

1. That's more good than bad.
2. That's only 15 total
3. Rotten Tomatoes? Who cares?

Also, the more advertised a movie is, the more likely it is to get bad reviews.

I watch movies because I enjoy them. If I enjoyed a movie, I will say it was good.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

The only concern I have with the films are that they have stretched the book into three films, including some of the expanded works. I think that may be a mistake. The only negative thing i've seen in the reviews that concern me are the mention of over-use of CGI, as that is one of my personal nitpicks.

I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

"There is nothing better in the world than being better at a video game than someone else....oh wait"

Including this movie it's a 3 movie trilogy for one short book. Of course it's going to flop. Peter Jackson just wants as much money as he can get out of this.

Apparently he wanted the Sauron to do a 1 V 1 with that one guy. Even though there are thousands of soldiers all around them. That's one of the biggest Hollywood cliches there is. I like what my dad said about Jackson. If he did a WW2 movie about Normandy. Even though there are hundreds of soldiers Hitler and Eisenhower would have a 1 V 1.

  • 12.04.2012 10:52 AM PDT

... Honestly can't remember a time I ever care about what other people thought about a film I was excited for.

This.

I've been a Tolkien fan ever since I could pick up a book. I've loved the LOTR films from the day they were released. The Hobbit has a fantastic cast and a passionate production team, I don't care if it's not as good as the original 3 films (few films these days even come close to capturing the scale, emotion and mystique of the LOTR trilogy but I still manage to enjoy them), I know I'm going to love it.

I completely agree. I love the respect the whole team has for Tolkien's writing, and the lengths they go to in order to honor it. I don't see it being as good as the LOTR trilogy, because the book didn't have the same incredible scale and emotion. But it will still be very well designed and produced, I'm sure.

From all the "rotten" reviews, they complained about the fact that it is a lot of travel vs. little action. Which would be expected since they broke up the book into multiple movies...

Still will see it, if it is a good movie, then I will be happy.

No you haven't, if you did, you would be telling us about what you didn't like, and why it isn't good.

Instead, you are just clinging to a couple of reviews, and saying things that are going to happen in the future, like "It will be a decent film, with good technical aspects and perhaps some decent action scenes, but it will not live up to the LotR trilogy."

It will be a decent film? I thought you saw it already?

derp

Furthermore, after the LotR trilogy has had years and years to be cast into stone, given time to solidify in the minds as an amazing series, how could any movie possibly live up to that? It's impossible.

Either way, wait and watch the movie before you talk -blam!-.
