The one thing about reviews is that they're trying to find something negative about the movie. You are dead WRONG!
The largest misconception about reviews of games and movies and other pieces of entertainment is that all reviewers are somehow inherently biased because their opinions conflict with those of the masses. This couldn't be further from the truth.
Reviewers are not common people like you see at school, at work, or on this forum. If they are film reviewers, they have watched hundreds if not thousands of movies from every genre imaginable. They judge films against a MUCH broader variety of other films than the other viewer has watched, and THAT'S why huge blockbusters which may make great money at the box office sometimes don't get very good reviews.
Ignorance is not a positive virtue. I'm not asking you all to unquestionably respect the views of all reviewers, but at LEAST consider the fact that it's their JOB to know more about the stuff than you do and so their opinions will naturally tend to differ from what the masses say.
If you continue to disagree with reviewers then please, please, PLEASE: by all means apply to become a reviewer yourself! EVERYBODY wants to hear your opinion because NOBODY wants to pay to see a movie they know nothing about.
Actually most reviewers are hired by a media outlook simply because they have a degree in journalism or writing, plus have some experience in the field. The general idea behind movie reviewers is to generate interest from the public. Thus, they are searching for increased traffic to their website, television network, or a purchase of their company's newspaper/magazine. This is 2012, the media is controlled by money and business. If you think movie reviewers have a superior opinion then that is your opinion. However, after taking a few PR and Marketing courses you quickly learn the media is rarely doing something good for the public over helping themselves out financially.
My point is half of those critic reviews are of the same essence as Video Game reviews. People will rate a movie based off personal opinion, biases, and how it benefits them. Its sad, but true.
