Man, sorry if I'm bumping or getting too nosy about this situation here, but dam, this thread is like a good novel. This is one of the best threads I've ever encountered, and definitely the best PC vs Mac debate. And while reading some bull-blam- posts from Mattbluhalofan, I just had to speak up, and defend the PC community.

1) Mattbluhalofan, you claim that the PC users started this flame war, but if you read more thoroughly, you should have noticed that they weren't flaming you, they were stating the facts. It's nearly impossible to convince anyone to make a Custom Edition for the Mac. Were they shouting at you? No, they just started flaming right after YOU started acting like a spoiled 7 year old who didn't get the toy he wanted. Complaining furthur more about it makes you an age younger in personality.

2) First you start bragging about how much you know about the Mac OS, but once your odds of convincing people that Macs are better became slim to none, you used your dad as a protection, like a spoiled 7 year old you really are. You started using your dad as a shield, bragging about how much he knows about the Macs. From then on, it seems you've stopped your pathetic wise guy acts, and finally put down your dictionary/thesaurus. If I recall, you used "pseudointellectual" many times, but I've only seen you use it once during this 7 page long flame war. Pathetic, just pathetic.

3) What they're saying is true, dude. PC > Mac in gaming. Mac may have fewer known viruses, but they're still there. And Macs still do have problems, not as major as some of the PC ones, but as viruses, still there. Stop thinking Macs are the best for everything, for Macs still have as many Cons as their Pros.

Bungie didn't develop halo for the Mac.

Actually, Bungie was originally a Mac developer and Halo was supposed to be released for Mac until 'The Man' bought them out, which in the end was great for Bungie's bank account.

I really dont understand why everyone has to battle it out over which computer is better and insult whoever has a different opinion, I mean if it really matters enough that you have to start an argument whenever someone says "I like my mac" then you might as well argue over which cookie is better (golden oreo, btw).

Big emphasis on originally, dumbass. Bungie has only worked on Halo, they never worked on the PC ports. Destineer developed the Mac port.

Should Halo CE (Custom Edition) be downloadable for Macintosh Desktops and laptops?Tell me your email,or email me,I know a very good site where..well we need someone to (Blam hammer!) it to the site.

/\ That makes sense... A lot of nonsense to be exact. /\

Can't people just accept the reality that Halo CE won't be coming out for the Mac. It just won't. I'm not saying that because Mac sux, I don't know if it does or not, nor do I care. But no one, and I mean NO ONE is going to port a program for a 4 year old game to a consumer base that small.

Subject: You are so wrong about Macs

You are SO wrong.

Check out the Mac Pro. If you buy a DELL with the same specs, you can pay up to $1000 more. What abou the Mac mini. Decent specs, and it can be plugged into your TV to be used as a cheap home media system - music/DVD/Movies/photo libraries/Internet, etc. How much does a PC version of that cost?
iMac Displays crap on the usual flat panels. Buy and iMac it does video conferencing, photo albums, iTunes, pod-casting, web design, movie editing, music creation, and FULL integreation between ALL of the above - right out of the box, no downloads. No Viruses. No malware. Looks great. Vista? It's a bad rip off of Tiger, just as Win 95-98 was a rip off of MacOS 7-8. Vista still has a registry to corrupt and a billion .DLLs to lose. It will still use the 20 year old and slow BIOS booting. Leopard (which will lauch at the same time as Vista) will boot using the faster nad more efficient EFI system. Plus feature that will make Vista look like so much time-wasting.

You want to upgrade your PC? Well, you can upgrade you RAM. Macs and PC's have used the same RAM since the PC100 days.
Video card? Well, there are a million different cards out for PCs. Some of them are -blam!-. Choice? Well NVidia are good and pretty much an industry leader. Macs come with NVidia cards. There are fewer Mac cards out there, but that's 'cos the card that comes as a standard with your new mac is pretty good anyway.Try the card that will run two 30 inch montiors in tandem. runs full crenn video editing smooth as silk.
You want to upgrade your PC processor? Chances are either the speed abilities of the motherboard has changed, so you'll need one of those too, which means you'll probably need new RAM. Maybe even the for factor has changed, so thats a new case and PSU. Whats left? the drives? So desktop Macs are as upgradable as PCs.

I have a 3yr old 1.25GHz G4 Mac at work, with a 128Mb NVidia, and 768 M of RAM on PC2700 sticks. Halo looks great. PC at home is a DELL 2GHz with an NVidia 256 Card and 128Mb Card. Halo looks crap.

It can be that Macs can be pricey, but they DO innovate. Their OS rocks, Integrated high quality webcams on the laptops and iMacs, their mouse has a 360 degree scroll ball, their laptops have a magnetic power cable, so they don't get pulled of the dsk by accident. Apple design both the hardware and the software to integrate in a way that PCs just cannot do, sincerely BECAUSE of the range of stuff out there - PCs find it difficult and slow to standardise. Plus, macs look GREAT.

Pipe - smoke it.

Support? On a PC, which of the billion forums do you go to for advice?. On a Mac? Apple discussions site. NEVER have I interacted with a more well-informed, helpful and rabidly fanatic client-base.

Why the hell hasn't this been locked yet?

Yes, there are probably thousands of viruses out there for PC. That doesn't mean you have to get them, as I have never had a virus on my system. I haven't cleaned my system in over a year, so I scanned for spy/adware. I found 37. Whoopdee freakin' doo. They were all instantly deleted.

And let's look at some of the features you listed:
"video conferencing, photo albums, iTunes, pod-casting, web design, movie editing, music creation"
Each feature is one that Apple uses to charge more for their system. Let's look at each feature individually:

Video Conferencing - I don't see a reason to ever use that.
Photo Albums - I don't take photos, thus this feature is useless as well.
iTunes - I don't listen to music much, but Winamp has all that I need.
Pod-Casting - Useless to me.
Web Design - Again, useless.
Movie Editing - Windows Movie Maker does all that I need, so this is yet another useless feature.
Music Creation - Useless.

Therefore, for what I want, a Mac is a complete waste of money. That magnetic power cable thing sounds kinda neat, but that's a minor feature that doesn't mean much. Besides, my power cable has never come out on accident. So, in essence, another useless feature. 360-degree scroll bar? What the hell does that mean? You only need to scroll up and down for web pages, and for the rare time that you are viewing a large image, you can click the mouse wheel and then navigate by moving your mouse around on the screen. Therefore, ANOTHER useless feature. Faster loading times that you mentioned would be nice, but you never have to turn off your computer. That makes useless feature #10.

Also, "PCs find it difficult and slow to standardise.". What the hell is your definition of standardization then? My PC gets upgraded all the time. It's quick, and by selling the old parts, effectively free.

Is this the way all Mac users try to convert PC users? By listing off a bunch of useless features, then trying to convince them that their PC has a bunch of problems it doesn't have?
