Subject: Just watched all Halo Reach cutscenes

And come on guys, I know the game starts slow, but once you get to the Long Night of Solace cutscenes (which include Jorge's death), all of the remaining cutscenes are awesome to watch.

I had forgotten about that feeling of despair of a losing war Bungie was trying to capture, and in my opinion they succeeded. And also, I called it: I knew the new type of grenade was going to be a mini-Jorge's-death type of grenade, and I called it!

On a side note, I've been watching some Halo related stuff, and I think the Prophet of Mercy deserves some more spotlight. It would be cool to have him as an easter egg in the future, since it's the less famous prophet.

Admit it. You guys loved hating Reach. But still there was love in all of that.

Just because the game has great cutscenes, that doesn't mean it's amazing.

Halo Reach was a great game.

Halo 4 is a great game.

I actually enjoyed Reach's campaign more than most other ones . . .

Not sure if to agree or disagree.

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

The cutscenes looked cool, the story was good, but the characters ruined it for me. Most of them were just so bland and dull.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

The only level that even remotely managed to convey a sense of "despair of a losing war" was New Alexandria, the rest was shockingly laughable. Especially in Exodus, when the ship holding the civilians gets shot down - I didn't see or know these people, I just saw a hunk of metal sink into the water with some woman saying "oh my fod, they killed the civilians!".

New Alexandria captured it perfectly with the silent opening cutscene, Six hunched over in the Pelican watching the skyscrapers tumble and burn, then later on in the level where the Covenant ships descend to glass the city.

That had emotional weight. The rest was just... flaccid.

It's funny because Halo 4 has the most character development in the series (in terms of the games).

I loved Reach and the campaign was truely amazing in my eyes I dont care what any of the Reach haters have to say. Bungie basically was forced to make this game by microsoft and still stepped with there best foot forward.

Most cutscenes after Jorge's death were really well put together. Kat's death was uncalled for, but you can listen how Carter's voice changes afterwards.

ODST.

So no, just no. Hell, Halo 2 has more than Halo 4 if you ask me.

Cut scenes. DERP!

Halo Reach wasn't THAT bad. It was a slow campaign but fun.

You're going to have to define what you mean by "well put together". From a technical standpoint, yes they were very impressive. From a story/character development perspective? Not so much...

Kat's death was excellent, New Alexandria is literally the pinnacle of the game. But that is juxtaposed by a meandering miasma of fail.

Infection in Halo 3 isn't zombie killing; it's ethnic cleansing. Have you ever noticed that these "zombies" are just black Spartans?

I've never felt anything but love for Reach, especially the campaign.

It would have made a far better standalone title though, set in its own universe. ODST fared much better because it was a huge departure from the Halo standard in both gameplay and presentation. By donning the MJOLNIR once again, Reach instead feels like a Master Chief story fallen flat.

That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the hell out of it, though.

ODST's character were entertaining, but like Noble Team, Bungie just couldn't get past the archetypes they based those characters around. While characters in Halo 4 like Del Rio are certainly poorly presented, the rest receive a substantial amount of development in the campaign and beyond.

The only characters that see any actual development in Halo 2 were Thel and Cortana...

I look at it as a slope. New Alexandria does fall pretty close to what I call the climax of the game, but after that the slope in quality doesn't suddenly drop down the drain.

The scene where you receive Cortana, the scene where Jun takes Halsey away and the scene where Carter is getting shot are all pretty damn awesome. And I don't think you can put more personality in characters that are losing a war and who have lost comrades in the process. They're soldiers, not entertainers.

They get the job done. And that's what mattered to me, at least when I judged each Noble Team character.

Truth, Tartarus, the Arbiter and even Johnson are far more developed than any new Halo 4 character, and that's in Halo 2 alone.

You can't call Palmer's constant complaining and nagging "character development". Del Rio's lines were only there to make him look like an ass. And Lasky falls short for not putting Palmer in her place.

ODST is my favorite for campaign and soundtrack. Oh man i would just turn the game on to listen to the music.
