I do not want to stop asking. I do not ask to stop wanting.

-respect and evolution of Halo's thematic principles (humanity's future, place in the galaxy, etc.)
-subtle evolutions of Chief's character (especially through his dialogue in the last scene as he tries approaching the conflict at hand normally at first, and then realizes that he has truly lost this time)
-"AI is more human than the humans"
-"Broken character becomes human trying to save the human character from becoming broken"
-several metaphors and allegories (ex. how Chief's body armor, for the first time, is taken off at the end of the game- symbolizing how the level headed, always calm, damn near stubborn Chief has become human)

Halo 4's story kicked a$$. I'm still waiting for an opportunity where I can expand upon these points in greater detail, but this is a rough idea of why I believe Halo 4's story kicked the original trilogy's a$$ out the door.

People saying that I'm "overanalyzing" and that "Reach had a great story" need to get their brains out of their pockets.

We should know better, because we are better.

You never see Carter get shot. One minute he's absolutely fine as you fly away from Sword Base, the next he's got his guts spilled all over the Pelican's cockpit. Why was this necessary? What difference did it make? He'd still have crashed the Pelican into the Scarab since he didn't have enough firepower, so what was the point in bloodying him up without showing the progression of events?

Remember at the beginning of the cutscene, Six is walking towards the front of the Pelican when several of the Banshee's plasma bolts miss Six by a few inches? Those shots hit the chair where Carter was sitting. Considering plasma can burn through armour with ease, those shots could have easilly been what wounds Carter.

Halo Reach was a great game.

Halo 4 is a great game.

0/10 try harder

There are those of us that love Halo Reach and love Halo 4... I'm one of them.

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Reach's story annoyed me because the Autumn shouldn't have been on the surface of the planet in the first place, but I feel like that is a different discussion.

Covan was here, December 20th.

Come back later, after he's out of Parris Island.

And come on guys, I know the game starts slow, but once you get to the Long Night of Solace cutscenes (which include Jorge's death), all of the remaining cutscenes are awesome to watch.

I had forgotten about that feeling of despair of a losing war Bungie was trying to capture, and in my opinion they succeeded. And also, I called it: I knew the new type of grenade was going to be a mini-Jorge's-death type of grenade, and I called it!

On a side note, I've been watching some Halo related stuff, and I think the Prophet of Mercy deserves some more spotlight. It would be cool to have him as an easter egg in the future, since it's the less famous prophet.

Admit it. You guys loved hating Reach. But still there was love in all of that.

I tried to get this exact point across to all of these people days ago, about going back and truly paying attention to the story of the game.

It's a shame that so few people will know how great a game Reach was.

It's hard to decide which is better, Reach or 4, but both are definitely some of the best FPS games to release.

Bungie cleared all of that crap up back before the game even came out.

I can't exactly remember it because it was over 2 years ago, but I do know that they listed perfectly good reasons for the story that actually made sense.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Nah, it was bad.

Actually, it was 343 who fixed everything through the data drops.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

MERCY. That was it, that was the one who died because of that single flood thingy.

Chief punches the crap out of Regret.
Mercy dies of the flood because Trauth doesn't save him.
The Arbiter stabs Truth.

That has been bugging me everytime I replay Halo 2.

OT: The Fall of Reach (book) had a better story than Halo: Reach.

ODST.

So no, just no. Hell, Halo 2 has more than Halo 4 if you ask me.

Oh god. You're either a blind Bungie fanboy who can't get over the fact that a different dev made the best Halo game since CE, or you're drunk.

I'm leaning towards the latter.

Halo Reach was a terrible game.

Halo 4 is a worse game.

Fixed.

I hate MLP. It is cancerous and pretty stupid to see men watching a show for girls. They can deny the truth but the truth shall prevail!

"I will not fail even if I must sacrifice my life." - Siegfried

To me, the only really good cutscenes were the opening for the Long Night of Solace and the ending for the following mission where you see Halsey.

Why is the Flood train of hypocrisy/idiocy not ending yet?

I thought Halo: Reach's campaign was pretty much poorly received by the majority, and now, suddenly masses of fans appear telling it was brilliant and at least better than 4.

Are you kidding me? I despised that campaign, it had so much potential wasted. It was boring, very slow and apart from LNOS, no mission stood out. We were supposed to see the downfall of the UNSC's military center, we were promised an epic struggle to save a dying planet from the hands of the covies. None of that happened, we got a canon-breaking turd. The campaign was like the characters: boring, bland, uninspiring and dissapointing.

And yet, people have the audacity to proclaim that it was ""better"" than Halo 4's campaign. HAHAHA!

I never thought I'd see the Love-the-previous-instalment-Hate-the-current-one-in-the-Fran chise bandwagon in real time.

Keep it classy Flood.

No $h1t.

Gamers always despise the current game in the series and heap praise upon the previous game.
