Bro, when I 9 years old, the SNES was still a year away from release.
Yeah, I assumed the Flood's age. Judging from the replies, I did pretty well.

lol. I remember playing Intellivision at my grandmother's house when I was like 6.

Here are just two of the games I played. Oh ya, dem graphics!:
Burger Time
Dracula

The Secret Society 95% of activity is me, I could use some help.

But I was. Super Smash bros. Melee dude... Ganondorf was OP.

Of course my brother and I always fought jokingly I care more now because I am intelligent enough to understand such things. A blessing and a curse...

Video games such as Zelda, Mario, Goldeneye, Doom, Castlevania, and other games like that, did you care about your K/D? What your rank was, if the game had one? Did you care about the quality of the game's multiplayer? Did you scream, "Gyorg is to powerful! He needs to be nerfed!" or if Mario needed a buff? I assume you didn't say stuff like that.

So why do we care all of a sudden about that now?

Different genres are tailored to different audiences. FPS, for one, is innately competitive. Though K/D is stupid, I care to win and try my best. I'll definitely enjoy pooping on kids in social and just screwing around, but the real thrill and drive in a FPS is the competition. Not to mention it has me playing the longest.

Think of League of Legends dude. Not competing (or not trying to best your opponent) in that game is like not even playing it.

No thought required, just spawn and GOOOOOOOOOOO

No, I never said that stuff when I was younger, and I still don't say it now.

Noob k/d?

  • 12.04.2012 5:34 PM PDT

I 100% dk64 and super Mario 64.

  • 12.04.2012 5:35 PM PDT

I was playing jak 2, so my KD ratio was through the roof

心の中に弱い風が吹いています。

When I was 9 years old I didn't have LIVE and so just played campaign; content with experiencing a game's story.

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

Rank? Of course. There's no point in playing arcade games if you can't be the one to put "ASS" as the top score.

When I was a kid it was all about mario, sly cooper, jak and daxter, ratchet and clank. You know the works.

  • 12.04.2012 5:57 PM PDT

I didn't even have a concept of what a bad game was until I was 13.

I just had games I liked more than others.

What doesn't kill you, only makes you stranger

I always complained about Gary's Pokemanz been too strong. That bastard was a hacker.

When I was 9 the internet didn't exist.

Same here, games didn't have k/d back then.

It was the time where I didn't analyse every single thing I played. Now, I can't even have fun in a game anymore due to overanalytical observations.

I know that I would have loved Halo 4 as a ten-year old.

Because we grew up.

If pro is the opposite of con, then the opposite of progress is...

This lil' forum can't possibly represent the entire gaming community OP.

  • 12.04.2012 6:05 PM PDT

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

Im 20 and I still dont care. I just play whatever Im given.

How is this possible you say?

I play games made by id Software. They are the reason I am never dissapointed and I never have anything to complain about. The games are the highest quality possible, and everything is polished-up 100%.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

The social aspect changed gaming for both better, and worse. Which one you pick depends on your disposition. To be fair, people pissing themselves about K/D is nothing new to people that have been playing online since the PC days.

"You are the last of your kind: bred for combat, built for war. You're the master of any weapon, pilot of any vehicle, and fear no enemy"

Pronz didn't have a K/D.

  • 12.04.2012 6:56 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Yes. I kept track on a sheet of paper how many enemies I had killed in Ninja Gaiden vs how many times I died.

Always went positive, weep negative Ninja Gaiden K/D noobs.

Back then there really weren't forums and we were too busy with other stuff to care too much. We also didn't analyze the games too much, and even if we did the companies weren't able to fix them.

Now we have forums and title updates.

To answer the question, I always 100% my games and care about beating them completely, so naturally I'd care about other stats.

When I was nine years old I was incapable of analyzing the video games for what they are. I was incapable of seeing Pokemon as rehashed games every 3 years, I was unable to see that Runescape was the biggest thing you could waste your life on, and I was unable to see how my favorite franchises were incapable of keeping someone else occupied of r a couple of days.
