Is the train okay?

Train is more important than the man's life?

That train cost more to make than that man would've ever seen in his life!

Did he died?

Yes

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

It's easy to say that you would jump down in front of a moving train to try and help a guy off the tracks, we see it in movies all the time, but you will probably find that actually doing it is a bit harder.

Heroism is a beautiful thing, but that's because it's not always easy; it takes something that not everyone has. Sure the guy on the tracks had family, but maybe the bystanders had family too, and in that instant before the train came, that short amount of time they had to react, they thought about that family, and not being able to see them again.

I'm not justifying anyone trying to take pictures over actually helping someone, especially if it's not putting you at risk, but I'm not sure that's what happened here.

Feel better everyone.

I'm not so good with advice...Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

Its called "The Bystander Effect", OP. It states that the more people that are present during a crisis, the lower the chance that any of the will help. Example, One person walking sees another being mugged. that person is more likely to help than if it were a group of random people walking past.

Well, if you try to help save somebody's life and fail at trying to help . . . they'll probably sue you . . .

If there are two thing I hate, it's ridiculous lawsuits and sue-happy people . . . get rid of them.

So I can understand why some would not want to help the man. . .

of course.

When you have that little regard for human life, you have to wonder where your life got off track.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Because only a small portion of people will actually do something good for others.
Every person there who didn't help the guy should be jailed for neglect and/or murder. This is my opinion.
It's also disgusting there's no way at all to get back up to the platform, like a ladder or anything. Just more evidence of how the world is a terrible place.

Yes, the train is fine.

OT: WTF!!!!!!!

  • 12.04.2012 5:15 PM PDT

This is why when I go to a subway I make sure to stay way the hell back until the train comes to a complete stop. There's -blam!- crazy people out there who will push you onto the tracks and watch you die and then walk away never to be found again.

I like your post because it touches on an idea I rarely see people apply to their daily lives. You look out for yourself instead of expecting others to do it for you, and you exercise caution by standing back.

I love those jokes.

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

So you're telling me you would have jumped down onto the tracks of a potentially soon arriving train that has a high potential to kill you? You would really do that? Because something tells me if he didn't have enough time to get up himself it was a very short time lapse.

You all need to get off of your virtual high horses. You wouldn't have done crap, just like everyone else in the shocked crowd of people who were in just that, shock. Jesus you people infuriate me when you insult others without having been in a situation like that.

I don't blame the other people for not wanting to help him. I probably wouldn't.

Oh and for the record, the photographer tried to signal the train by repeatedly flashing his camera. Not that any of you bothered to include that part.

It doesn't look like there was time to help him. I could have misread, and misheard that, but it seems that only a few seconds went by between the shove and the hit.
But still, they didn't have to take photos of it.

I was aware of that. I just thought it was a piss poor attempt to fight off all of the hate.

I am not mad at the camera guy. It's an intense photo. He did his job.
