If you were any further up your high horse's ass I'd accuse you of bestiality.
Anyone else having a laughing fit over the irony here?

No u

I loved Ewan Mcggregor in the prequels. That said, I would thoroughly enjoy an appearance by him in the new ones.

Would watch if he was in it.

He and Liam Neeson are the only redeeming factors behind Episode 1...and Darth Vader.

Ad Infinitum

-blam!- it, as long as it has Boba Fett I'll watch it.

You're trying to tell me that I shouldn't or cannot like the prequels because it is objectively bad according to certain people. Whether they are or not, I still like them, and nothing you post is going to change that. It's especially ridiculous to objectify preferences and tastes, which are by nature subjective.

I wouldn't care if every single person on the planet except for me hated orange juice. At the end of the day, I'd still go in my refrigerator, pour a glass, and enjoy it.

The only thing to laugh at are the people who are bothered about it. Nobody cared what I thought about Reach if they put it in their xbox and enjoyed it. The same applies to any opinion.

To be fair, they (meaning Lucas) really gave his character the shaft. Obi-wan should have been the main character of the prequels, with the story centered around him. Anakin's transformation should have been the underlying theme and main point of the trilogy, but not the center of the plot. Imagine hwo much better the story would have been if it had been around obi-wan's struggles, and if we had grown a deep bond with him. Then it would have been a extremely heart breaking moment when Anakin betrays him.

EDIT: So I can see why he might want back in, it would really be a chance for him to play the role he was meant to. However, I think it wold be for the best if they did not try to tie in the Force ghosts, or anything really outlandishly Force related. The story needs to go back to the Episode IV roots where the Force was merely a feeling, and not super telekinesis .

I wish Star Wars would stick with the sci-fi genre and not crossover into the science-fantasy world.

Oh no, you can enjoy them as much as you want. I liked Episode III more than VI, and I is still kinda watchable. The only truly awful prequel with no redeeming factors is Episode II. But when you say the only things you don't like are the pod race, jar jar and the romance, when two of them are some of the biggest problems with the series is pretty stupid.

Going full scifi would mean stuff like the Force would be retconned out and other sci-fantasy elements would be removed when those were the most fun about the original trilogy. Science fantasy is a much more perfect fit for Star Wars.

No it isn't.

I found the pod race boring.
I found jar jar annoying.
I found the romance poorly done.

There are others here and there but those are my main grievances with the prequels. In other words, all my opinion based on what I like and what I don't. Trying to objectify what I must or mustn't like is ludicrous.

Nevertheless, if I pop in any of them right now and watch start to finish I will be entertained by the Star Wars universe. It doesn't matter to me what a bunch of critics or die hard fans think of the prequels or even Star Wars in general.

The force can be scientifically rooted in some capacity, but even so it would be fine to retain that so long as it is not too outlandish. Force ghosts, space magic, and bringing back dead characters are just some of the things in the EU that I've found to disconnect me from the universe.

I am not saying to go completely sci-fi, just where the narrative is concerned. As far as narrative goes, sci-fi tends to lend itself much better then fantasy, with certain things (such as the Force) being used simply for spectacle, and not for narrative purposes. The story should definitely stay in the fantasy realm, that is one of the things that made the originals so great.

As long as there are no reincarnations of Vader or Palpatine like in the EU. Dead characters should stay dead, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of explicitly killing them.

Exactly. When writing a story, one has to look beyond merely the story and think of the narrative and theme that would be put across to the audience.

Ewan McGregor: the one good thing about the prequels

IMO, Ewan really nailed his part in the prequels, and was one of the few main cast members to do so. He was pretty much the only consistently likable good guy besides R2.

It would be kinda weird to see him as Ghost Obi-Wan, unless they digitally aged him or something.

Wrong.

Natalie Portman's costume design was undisputedly jaw-dropping.
