Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

I was going to use the search bar to see if there were any recent topics about this topic, but that's the thing, the search bar doesn't show anything RECENT.

While looking up ANYTHING in the 'forums' search bar you don't get any results in 2012, rarely any past 2011. Most are from 2010 or before.

Is there a reason for this? Am I doing it wrong? Has anyone found the same?

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

Google is actually more accurate than the search bar, I find. And I'm not kidding. Usually typing in keywords and authors spawns a lot of relevant results.

Same here. I looked up "The search bar," and one of the first results was from the Optimatch Forum. Nothing after 2 years ago.

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

Reminds me of all the posts back when the Halo 3 forum was active and everyone posted "search bar".

I personally use Google/Bing as my bungie.net search bar. Cryptic made a great thread on how to improve the search bar for an update. However, it also throws up some great reasoning for brainstorming. I rarely use it because other web engines are much more efficient.

It's funny that search engines are based on tags in the topic your looking for.

Huh, never thought about that. I'll do that from now on I guess. Search bar is still broken though.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I have no idea why it takes so long to update.
Typing in some keywords on Google works though.

Agreed.

Also I find it usful using this format when searching on google:
whatever you want searched site:www.bungie.net

As long as you have "site:www.bungie.net" at the end it searches for anything on that domain.

Probably when bungie.next is implemented the search function will be updated. Not quite sure why it's not resulting anything from 2012.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Fix your damn game... I mean search bar, Bungie!

  • 12.04.2012 5:33 PM PDT

Key

It's not that it doesn't show anything recent, it's that it doesn't work. I can search for the exact title of a thread and that thread won't even show up, let alone be one of the first few results.

I assume it's one of the many things to be fixed in Bungie.next.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

It's been useless for me too. I had not checked the date of its responses though.

yep, the search bar is pretty useless. Hopefully it's something they fix for bungie.next.

What they need is a search bar within a thread. I mean if there is a MASSIVE thread, it get's annoying to look for that one post, the one post that made you save the damn thread.

I'm assuming they'll fix it up in the next big update to the site.

Bungie is going to be launching their new website in the near future and the search will most likely be improved or completely different. Achronos has stated in the past that this feature is very important. I'm sure the web team will have a way you can search, sort, and/or filter content.

No, I just used irony to get a point across. Add a little humour to my post.

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

I heard Bungie nerfed the search bar, à la BR-spread style, to balance the website. Search bar spread.
