Look at it this way. The UNSC can beat the Reapers, and their ships are literally just big guns with armour and engines welded on.

The Federation has deflector shields, transporters, antimatter torpedoes, and extremely fast FTL engines. If things go bad, they could just use the Stargate Atlantis trick of beaming armed torpedoes right next to the Reaper's main power generator.

Also, we're talking about a civilization that can come up with jurry-rigged superweapons within a 1 hour airtime block.

so, you're telling me that the energy projector of a covenant ship could easily be tanks by any ship?
the energy could, technically life wipe a planet by just firing it in atmosphere
Sweet Jesus, your grammar is horrendous.

you said halo universe.
covy cso class owne enterprise by being like 20 something kilometers long
Pretty much any but the first Enterprise could solo any Covenant ship and not take ANY damage.

You're telling me, that this flying pancake, that has no shields, a phew phaser cannons and one photon torpedo bay, could take on any covenant ship solo?

LOL
The fact that Covenant ships have next to no maneuverability and Star Trek starships can fly like they're X-Wing fights with twice the size and weapons proves otherwise.

oh god you must have proof
Just take a look at the shields, engines and armament of the ships.

The smallest Federation ship has shields that are impenetrable by the heaviest Covenant weapon. Their navigation shields regularly defend the ship from MAC like rounds while they are at warp speed.

But, anyways, we are talking about the Reapers.

A Covenant assault carrier has been estimated to strike at 201.1 gigatons, give or take.

According to the Star Trek wiki, a standard photon torpedo has a maximum estimated yield of 690 gigatons.

In Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual a figure of 1,5kg of antimatter is given as the maximum warhead material of a photon torpedo. (pg. 129) Using standard physics calculations a direct 1:1 explosion would equal to about 64.4 megatons. Warhead materials are however premixed to achieves the level of destructive force of an antimatter pod rupture containing 100 cubic meters of antideuterium. (pg. 69) Antimatter is stored as liquid or slush on starships. (pg. 68) Density of mere liquid antideuterium is around 160 kg per cubic meter. According to this comparison the high annihilation rate energy release would be comparable to about 690 gigatons.

I was referring to the X-Wings with size. They are as maneuverable and fast and starfighters with twice the weaponry. Covenant ships may have length but what they have in size the Federation has in speed and durability. A couple Defiant Class ships could probably destroy and a CCS class Battlecruiser in a few minutes from sheer firepower.

Well, let's see. I just established above that standard Federation torpedoes had a yield of 690 gigatons, and Federation shields could take hits from several of them before failing.

So... pretty good?

Also, Defiant class ships were designed to take on Borg cubes. Even the biggest Covie ships are nothing compared to those.

Also, a UNSC Super MAC could put a shot through a Covenant capital ship with full shields, and they top out at 51.6 gigatons. So one photon torpedo would obliterate a Covenant ship.

and i thought that i explained that those torpedoes would do much?
and energy projectors that split unsc ships in half from fore to aft? well they must be REALLY strong, those shields i mean.

http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Photon_torpedo#OverviewThe weapon was armed with a photon warhead. The warhead had a detonation chamber filled with antimatter. Upon detonation the torpedo created a matter-antimatter explosion and a flood of ion radiation.

There are few sci-fi universes that Star Trek wouldn't ROFLStomp. People judge the Star Trek universe on the nerdy Trekkie. In truth, the Federation would beat the Empire pretty easily.

  • 12.04.2012 10:58 PM PDT

More people seem to have thrown in their vote on the Reapers. It would be a hell of a battle to see. One thing that I think this thread is derailing and basing most opinions off of gung ho for which one is preferred. Mostly Star Trek. Curious. It takes a small fleet of ships capable of firing projectiles that impact with the force of large nukes to take down a Reaper, I wonder how the Starfleet would face down the reapers with their ability to jury rig superweapons and phasers. While not causing any significant damage to themselves in the process. That and what about the ground conflicts? Sure the Starfleet can just blow the planets to bits but I would think they would not be able to beat Reaper ground forces should they take a planet they cannot afford to blow away. Plus ship size doesn't really matter. More or less it just makes one a large target. I would cast in my money on Startrek ships that are 50-60 km long but there are just too many factors. Husk boarding parties, the reapers themselves landing on the damned things. not sure between the power of Star Trek ship weapons versus Reaper beams. I think it said in the codex that the Reapers 'lasers' are actually streams of molten hyper dense metal accelerated at light speed. And then indoctrination! So many factors. -sigh- I can just see my post here getting ripped apart. Oh well.

I can draw no clear conclusion.
