For those living in America, do you at this moment in time think we should be worried about a "Big Brother" scenario in which the goverment will be controlling all aspects of its citizens lives?

For those in Europe and other locations, what do you yourselfs believe is the situation of where you live? (Sorry if this seems as if im putting those that live in America above all else, i am just more concerned about the place that i live more than the current affairs of other countries.)

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

Small Community, Lots of Fun. We do Halo, Minecraft, and much more.

No. We fought Sopa, I think we could fight other worse things.

Remember those times when we all had something better to be doing, but didn't do it? Those were good times. Gooood times

Yes since with modern technology it is possible, and things are slowly progressing further and further towards something like it

people fought SOPA because their rights and comforts were being directly affected...

Yet when they become indirectly affected like Patriot Act and NDAA they sit idly by and claim "oh if you aren't doing anything wrong..."

OT: History always plays the same tune... Global powers and advanced civilizations have always repeated the cycle of higher authoritarian control and loss of freedoms and rights from a government before their fall...

The Universe demands to be noticed, to be seen, and dutifully noted.

What use all those incredible firework dimensions if no eye fixes and reflects, no brain takes notes, no heart moves with passion at the display?

NASA answers the silent cry of the Cosmos for recognition.

NASA is the witness and we fellow witnesses to the endless deeps.

Firstly, I don't think the economy would permit the American government to have the resources to undertake such a massive campaign - they have bigger issues at hand - the looming fiscal cliff, the 'loose=ends' of wars in Arab countries, the high unemployment rate, etc., etc.

Secondly, there isn't much incentive to do so - there isn't much threat of a rebel faction in America and terrorist acts have been relatively isolated in recent history.

I can't see any foreseeable benefit to the American government for doing a Big Brother right now, even if they did have the resources - it would represent an enormous drain in the face of more pressing issues.

Unless they've been doing this since the 1970s and I'm really a pro-government bot.

I write poetry, I write short-stories, I listen to hip-hop (80s&90s), Reggae, Classic Rock n Roll, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Blues, and the 60s, 70s.

Revolt, citizens shouldn't fear their government, their government should fear them. Personally, I'm ready....

No, we shouldn't be paranoid. Paranoid implies that whatever is going on is out of our control. But if the majority of Americans just opened their eyes to the various vices of their government, we could change all of it.

We should be concerned, very concerned. But we just don't give enough of a -blam!-. SO living in paranoia is just a waste of brain power.

I don't believe that the government will ever have a level of control over our lives that I would be uncomfortable with. I also don't understand why people think this way. They extrapolate far too much. "Oh the government is paying for retirees? soon they'll be paying all of our incomes!!"

That will never happen

Also, this is dangerously close to a political discussion. Watch your boundaries people.

There is reason to believe that the American govt. stores everything you've ever written or said with electronic forms of communication. Forums, conversations, emails, texts, phone calls.

Whether true or not, would that make you uncomfortable?
