No way. That would suck. It would take about two and a half seconds to fly over a map.

The only way Pelicans could work is with more people playing and biger maps.

I like the pelican. It would be a shame not to use it in some way!

the bad thing is theyd have to have a turrent guy cause otherwise a banshee could just fly behind the poor pelican.....shoot it up the butt......killtacular.......

"Thoughts are the shadows of feelings; always darker, emptier, and simpler."

Tjis would add possibilities!

Good
1) You could pick up Warthogs & Tanks
2) You could pick up Marines.
3) Enimies could hijack you by punching a hole in the glass and pulling you out.
4) It would be an easy extraction on Coagulation!
5) You could crash it. tonsoffun
6) You could use it as cover or to hide in the cockpit when you are shot down.

Bad
1) Everyone would want it and ppl would betray alot
2) U can't shoot it down really. (I tried with a rocket launcher.
3) Too fast
4) Way too badass
5) ppl would just get in it and ground combat would grind to a hault. (since it can hold 15 ppl)
6) 1 grenade thrown in the back would take out the reinforcements.
7) no other vehicle can fire forward and back wards 24/7 with unlimited ammo.

It wouldnt make sence....UNLESS you use the Pelicans to fly across a island to another. That would be more fun then those damn unless cutscences to show that u r going to a different part of the map/place. So ya flying a pelican to a different place on earth would be fun

In campain totally acceptable. In multiplayer no. If bungie added a pelican too multiplayer i would scream and yell at there feet.

Why? Remember what happened in Containment..? Imagine a map 5 times the size of that (so yo ucould fit more people on it) Pelicans (or some multiple passenger air vehicle) would be needed to keep the game flowing.

I just don't see a foot soldier piloting a massive dropship. Not even in campaign mode. Also, there's the problem of gameplay balance....

Most definitely. But if they were to integrate it into multiplayer it would have to be destroyable for one thing, which means a new weapon, like an AA turret or something, and the level would have to be frickin huge with like 64 people on it. Which would make it more like BF2 which i guess is okay.

Doesn't sound like Halo to me. Halo is about beating the crap out of other people with warthogs and automatic weapons on the ground, not having large-scale vehicular battles. Doing something like integrating a Pelican would stray too far from the winning formula of the games so far.

i know its been gone over a million times but a pelican with the ability to carry 2/3rds of however many people are on each side ( like with 36 players and 18 on each side 12 should be able to ride in it. the pilot would have solely flying abilities. no shooting no nothing. you should be able to have a co-pilot to handle offense and defense.

the controls should be something like this: left thumbstick: strafe side to side and backwards and forwards flight. clicking the thumbstick. engages landing gear.

right thumbstick: controlls altitude to vertical take offs. clicking thumbstick closes or opens rear hatch.

even though that leaves enough buttons left over for weapons there are things im sure i have left out. (like afterburners perhaps?) but in the sake of gameplay you shouldnt just have one guy cruisin around in the pelican shooting everything.

killing it: the pilot should be able to be shot out of the pilots seat (maybe) with a sniper rifle if the windows are broken. the windows should be atleast 5 times harder to crack than a hogs, atleast.
rockets: should take 4 well placed rockets to destroy it and everyone onboard. 2 rockets to the nose eliminate the cockpit and pilot/co pilot. the pelican crash lands and everyone dumps out and does whatever.
jacking it: this is a pelican not a banshee, what the guy gonna do? break through the rear hatch and walk right in?

i know this is long but i think it may work.
ohh and on a side note make the thing hard to fly so you can have designated pilots for groups of friends.

i said 2/3rds of the maximum amount of people per team. and even then it should probably be less. like half maybe. so in 32 players it could be 8 or so people.
