Subject: The right to defend. (GUNS)

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

While at Bakers Square tonight, I was wondering if restaurants should be allowed to have guns. You know, the shotgun under the bar table? Something like that.
Reason why I was thinking this is because while at Bakers Square, 2 cops showed up to escort this dude who seemed to be either drunk off his ass or on something...maybe both or just crazy.
Either way, that was interesting.

Ok sorry, back on topic.

Question: Should restaurants be able to own/house guns for protection? (think of shotgun under the bar table image)

I make a living of selling my body, and I don't mean sex.

Yes.

Only if the guy is stealing or attempting to take someone's life.

I don't know how I feel about drunk people though.

I guess so.

Have never heard of Baker's square though.

Gotta defend themselves from the bad man somehow.

Only if the guy is stealing

Because shooting pickpockets in the knee with a round of buckshot is completely moral and ethical.

Shooting to wound in general is unethical, and tends to get you sued.

I walked into an ice cream shop at the nearby beach and the owner had a Beretta 92FS in a holster. I will try to go to that ice cream shop from now on at the beach.

~Thread-killer~

I didn't think there was any laws against it, at least around here. For bigger restaurant, like large chains such as McDonalds, Red Lobster, i could see it being a liability issue.

For small businesses, IE Pawn Shops, Small family owned restaurants, etc, I don't see much problem with it.

Either way, having a person with a CHL would be much more beneficial and safer than a 12 ga under the counter for anyone to get to.

Never have I heard "shoot to wound" in any professional firearm course. It is ALWAYS shoot to kill/destroy.

???

you never Shoot to Wound bro. always to stop the threat. anything less is prison time because you didn't think your life was in danger enough to justify lethal force and thus weren't defending your life. plus lawsuits.

Many large chain stores have policies that prevent their workers from carrying guns while working.

So, for a store to actually have a gun would likely not work. Company policy would likely have to change.

That being said, your business is considered your home, and Castle doctrine applies. Someone attempts to rob your place of business, you are in your right to shoot.

while true and should apply errwhere, that's actually true based on a state by state basis.

Well, it even applies in California, so the only places I can see it not apply are, New York, Illinois, or New Jersey.

Someone walks into your restaurant. They walk to the counter, grab a fistfull of dollars out of the open cash register, and make a run for the door.

If you shoot and kill him, you will be found guilty of murder. Why? Because the robber wasn't posing a physical threat to you. You can only legally shoot someone if your life is threatened.

And yes, this does happen in our justice system.

Pepper spray and a taser would work fairly well. Added benefits are you get to beat the -blam!- out of the person before the cops arrive. Just say he was convulsing against a table or wall.

uh, no.
>taser
>one shot, then you must change the batteries and CO2 charge and reel in the wires.
>short run time
>no good against multiple thugs trying to attack you.

>Pepper Spray
>skin immunity can be built against it
>can possibly only serve to make them enraged
>a misting type propellant spray causes AoE contamination and possibly backspray/FriendlyFire
>only good for a couple seconds

world isn't perfect.
