I missed the days of vista so i want to know why people think it was bad. Please tell me, also is it worse than windows 8?

Please do not send me group invites.

Vista itself was good. The problem was that it had higher usage requirements, and computer companies were putting it on low-end hardware.

I've got a fan!

It used a lot of RAM and was generally a bit clunky. I never really experienced any problems with it because my computer has more than enough RAM for anything I have on it. Also, people like complaining about everything Windows-related.

The acceptance of defeat is an invitation for its repetition.

I owned it for 3 years, and never once had issues.

People mess with stuff they shouldn't and then complain when it breaks.

Most people who wanted it had to either get a discrete graphics solution or use a crappier version with integrated graphics (which were much weaker back then). It also liked a lot more RAM than people typically had.

I have a laptop from that era. Loud, hot and slow. Windows 7 and 8 are a ton better imo.

This, hardware wasn't ready for it.

Some people also didn't like UAC but it wasn't a big deal imo.

I found it was unstable with legacy programs. If it was written for XP or Vista, it worked great. Older stuff? Not so much.

If I ever see anyone post in a thread "That's your opinion", I immediately lose all respect for them.

Also, if you're discussing a topic with me and you resort to name calling, pull "life checks", or just call anything you don't agree with retarded without giving legitimate reasons, don't expect me to take you serious in anyway what so ever.

I had a lot of incompatibility issues with it. Other than that, nothing really.

That was inevitable though, with an OS with such a long development cycle. I doubt it will happen to such a degree again.

Whoo.

It was a transitionary OS, everything about it was a little uneven or experimental, because it wasn't that stable a platform people found it agitating.

So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

I couldn't play most of my music, old computer couldn't function properly, UI was ugly. It obviously wasn't stable enough for my machine, going back to XP fixed the problem. Surprisingly Windows 7 had no problems on my old computer at all and I still have my old computer with Windows 7. I just don't use it.

As for Windows 8, all I know is that it's designed for a touch screen really. Plus the UI is horrible, maybe that's why it hasn't been selling as much and Microsoft is losing money right now.

No, people just didn't have good enough machines to run it and since everyone wants to believe their machines are perfect and can handle everything they blamed vista instead of their shtty rigs.

I agree, I too had it for about 3 years, and no problems. XP would have been quicker, yes, but when I had vista I didn't care too much about speed so it was nice.

It was a little bit of both, really. Vista was glitchy as hell before the first service pack. Then again, that's usually the case.

Either way, Vista had the unpleasant job of severing legacy support for the sake of progress. Someone had to do it. In a way, Vista was the Batman of operating systems.
