Subject: Xbox 360 disk tray troubles

So, I've been having problems with my 360 where it would take a while to be able to read a disc and sometimes they would become unreadable after a while.

Today I was playing Far Cry 3 and my game went unreadable after a while like it normally does. When I tried to play the game again by opening and closing the disk tray my xbox made 2 strange noises then quit trying to read the disk, this has happened with every disk I have put in (over a dozen times). When I close the disk tray without a disk in it makes the same 2 weird noises then a 3rd higher pitch noise.

Anyone have any tips to get the disk tray working again? I no longer have a warranty so sending it in isn't an option as I would rather just get a new xbox.

I am open to doing free clan tags for anyone. Contact me on my deviant art profile through a note and NOT on my comments page as they will not be acknowledged.

Click on the "My Homepage" button to be directed to my page.

Yahoo Answers is pretty good with this. Go there.

I have tried this, I removed a very noticeable amount of dust but it didn't seem to help.

Call xbox support.

Follow their instructions.

Probably sent your xbox over, they will fix it, and after a week you'll be able to play again.

Why do people come to the flood wit this stuff? There is a support system that is unbelievable at Xbox.com. Seriously.

I eat my milk...

...without any milk.

Try putting the disc in and hitting the top of your Xbox as it reads it.

Try putting a cookie in the disc drive.

Try wiping your discs with a cloth.

try using an older game. one of my previous xboxes had the same problem. But it was alleviated by throwing in Call of duty 2, or Mass Effect; letting that spin for a bit, then playing my game of choice.

But if the drive is making odd noises you more than likely have a more serious problem than a dying laser, and will probably have to get the box repaired or replaced.
