I never understood this, why do you all HATE REACH with soo much passion? I've played the game, thought it was awesome, and thought I'd find others with the same opinion as I do for the game, and was shocked to the overwhelming amount of people hating it.

And then Halo 4 comes out and a lot of people...LOVE it, even say that it was better than all previous predeccesors?! I just wonder why this is the case. Please help me understand the reason behind the hate of the REACH from the Flood.

Armor Lock and Bloom mostly.

It moved too far away from the Halo formula that people had come to know and love from the previous games.

Too slow, too random, bad maps and it was full of crutches for terrible players. It was basically Halo for people who sucked at the previous games.

Reach sucked, that's why. This has been discussed here a million times and I'm tired of posting the same thing over and over again.

Armor abilities, no bleed through melee, jet pack broke map control, armor lock probably doesn't need to be discussed, maps were mostly terrible, Banshee was OP, DMR deserted big open areas, sniper basically had auto aim so anyone could use it, credit system didn't encourage winning at all and so on..

This is what you will mostly hear from anyone who disliked Reach. I admit, I spent more than few hours playing it (pls don't check my stats) but in the end, I feel it was a terrible game.

And I almost forgot to mention the horrible campaign. Fanboys will defend it and it's "human" story, but only because Bungie told us it has a human story. Which it didn't, all the characters were forgettable and cliché, campaign missions were basically "run here, press this button".

People hate Reach. They also hate Halo 4.

Why?
Because the gameplay doesnt resemble an Arena shooter.

A simple life.

I though MLG was fun. But really better forge maps should have been implemented in matchmaking.

  • 12.05.2012 2:20 AM PDT

hmm

I just hated Armor lock. Besides that, it was loads of fun.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

The singleplayer's plot changed some canon and the mujltiplayer was plagued with armorlock.

It's not a bad game whatsoever, the problem lies in what their standard is. The reason why people are now saying its so great is that they are no longer comparing Halo 3 to Halo: Reach (Great to good), but are comparing Halo: Reach to Halo 4 (good to bad).

I also took some great screenshots that I couldn't upload because they were taken in Offline mode. There was also an error with Juggernaught! It would always have the hammer, a flaming head, and start with 1.5 overshields.

I've been a Halo fan since CE. I loved Halo 2, 3, ODST, Wars and Reach.

I think Reach had interesting gameplay and I liked it alot. The new additions made to the game were properly implanted and executed if you ask me.

However, Halo 4 is a completely different story. It's honestly the first Halo title I consider garbage.

Armor. -blam!-. Lock.

Because fights that are either:
-DMR then death
-DMR then escape
-Rush in an press melee like it's stopping you having a heart attack

are varied right?

Interesting because doing the same thing over and over again is interesting right? Because running off spawn to get the PW, then going to the control point of a map, each and every game, is interesting. Because all maps had fighting occur in only a few areas, and the rest were ignored. That's very interesting.

Because the ability to escape certain death, spawn with a sniper, break a perfect set-up without trying, and play on maps that give one team absolute advantage over the other are balanced right?

I had a lot of fun playing Reach. Because I worked out how to play the game, and then I just got to spend my time beating up on retards. That doesn't make it a good game.

Reach multiplayer granted was not the best but I'm gonna have to stop you there. Even if you didn't care for the characters you've got to appreciate the tragedy of the situations. Try showing some empathy E.G. When Kat dies, you may have not cared but imagine what Noble team would have felt like with her death being so sudden and everything.

Country: United States.
State: Pennsylvania.
County: Warren.
I graduated from high school on June-11-2011. I'm 19 right now. I'm turning 20 in December. I like playing video games, and board games. I like reading Sci-Fi, and World War II novels, and what not.

"There is nothing better in the world than being better at a video game than someone else....oh wait"

My problems with it:
Both:
-Sprint should have either been default.

-Focus Rifle: That is one of the most useless weapons I used in a video game. The only thing it was really designed to do was lower shield. The only time it's useful is when you have infinite ammo in Firefight.

-Plasma Repeater: It's just about as useless as the Focus Rifle. There was no point of having it when the Plasma Rifle is pretty much the same thing, but more powerful.
_______________________
Campaign:
-The AI was completely useless. They couldn't drive or kill. If I let the AI drive I'm dead. If I let them gun I'm dead. Jun has this thing called a sniper rifle which is used at long distances. But he uses it at shotgun range.

-I know the games override the books, but I do not like how the game. Took a giant -blam!- on the Fall of Reach novel. It's sad they had to rewrite the novel and you have to read Halsey's journal for Reach to make sense.

-I hated the story. You had no clear objective at all. Until you retrieved Cortana near the end of the game and that's when the game actually gets a plot to it. The only thing you were doing was being Colonel Hollands term for a female dog.
_______________________
Firefight:
It went form a survival/see how long you can go. To a point whoring fest. The majority of the maps are not made for holding up a location. The are made for running around and seeing how many points you can get.
_______________________
Multiplayer:
-The vehicles are made out of something weak, like paper mache...or Raditz...

-Sword block: It's one of the dumbest game mechanics I seen in a game. The Energy Sword is a one hit kill anywhere on the body, but as soon as someone puts their arm up. It magically stops it from killing them.

-The majority of the default multiplayer maps are campaign areas. I don't care that they were designed first and built into the campaign. It's incredible lazy and unoriginal.

-Bloom: It wouldn't be so bad if it was a recoil effect. Like the SMG in Halo 3 and 3. If you fired it it traveled up your screen(I believe that's how the DMR was in the beta.) or like the FAL in Black OPS. It's pretty accurate when you paced it, but when you spammed it. The weapon moved all over your screen. Any of those 2 things allows the player to control it and to know where the bullets are ending up, but bloom is completely random. Instead of reducing spam it increased it.

I shouldn't be losing DMR duels because I have better aim and I can fire faster than the other person. I'm losing because I'm firing to fast and I can't control where the bullets end up. The pace I'm firing should give the bloom enough time to reset, but it doesn't. It's just one big derp of a system.

-I like the idea of armor abilities, but Bungie screwed them up. Armor Lock was one of the worst things you can add to a game and the drop shield should have worked like this. It would basically act like AL, but you would deploy the shield instead. Which means you can't move while it's activated.

-The DLC was not wroth buying at all. Anybody that bought them got screwed. (They removed the DLC playlist which was the only real way to play on the map pack maps. Having a DLC map come up in the non-DLCplaylist is next to impossible.)

Majority isn't praising Reach, they're praising Halo 3. The only people praising Reach are people like OP who loved it in the first place.

I hate MLP. It is cancerous and pretty stupid to see men watching a show for girls. They can deny the truth but the truth shall prevail!

To me, Halo 4 feels like Halo 3, but it seems to have a good amount of multiplayer improvements.

Of course I tried, like every time I play a video game campaign or watch a movie. The characters were just so unlikeable that I couldn't imagine how they might have felt.

  • 12.05.2012 4:10 AM PDT

Do I really need a signature?

I like Halo Reach more than most games. People detest it because it strayed to far from the Halo legacy. Halo Reach is a good game compared to other games, but the trilogy it cannot even be compared to.

That wasn't conveyed in the story though, the only character I felt bad about was Jorge and he was a massive stereotype as well.

He even had a Comb Moustache to go with his Oxford accent!
