The Universe demands to be noticed, to be seen, and dutifully noted.
What use all those incredible firework dimensions if no eye fixes and reflects, no brain takes notes, no heart moves with passion at the display?
NASA answers the silent cry of the Cosmos for recognition.
NASA is the witness and we fellow witnesses to the endless deeps.

We already do use catalytic converters in vehicles to reduce the toxicity of car emissions, and newer kinds of more environmentally friendly conventional fuels are and have been developed.
We're looking at many different ways of producing food, such as urban farming, hydroponics, aeroponics and GM methods are possibly a way.
With water we've looked at utilising more 'grey'/waste water to meet our needs (except for drinking).
Here's an example of a few methods in practice.
Yes, I know that technology is helping greatly but as of now we're still increasing the global trend of pollution, except the EU, they've reduced pollution. I'm not saying it's only getting worse but natural gas companies are currently lobbying for fracking permits and public support. That alone is a huge threat to the health of many people.
The United States has HUGE reserves of shale/gas that can only be obtained through fracking - seeing as how the nation desperately needs the money - don't expect any renewable sources of energy to be on the market anytime soon - corporate pressure and government reluctance will see to that.
The technology is there - but the integration of renewable energy sources into households is going to be a near-impossible task - given the reluctance for investment and the influence of the fossil fuel barons.
