Both gaming platforms have their pros and cons. I prefer console gaming mainly because I love playing split-screen or I prefer taking it easy on the couch when I game, but I can easily see why some people prefer PC over consoles.
Wireless KB/M or controller.
So yeah, you could easily play on your couch a PC game.
With Steam's big picture mode it's even easier.

I'm an Indonesian Halo (and other games) gamer!
Bhineka Tunggal Ika!!

/facepalm

Then just buy the game disc.
I admit, I also prefer CD/DVD/whatever more than digital but I can't ignore a damn good deal

You realize optical media is slower when it comes to loading times and framerates, right?

Sorry, but there's nothing we can do to change the fact that companies will stop using CDs eventually. It's costly and CD sales have been consistently dropping. Not my opinion, just facts.

I still prefer a CD and a nice case with box art, but those days will end.

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

I don't have my computer in my living room.

Also, still doesn't solve the split-screen problem, my girlfriend loves playing minecraft on split-screen, and around 35% of the time I spend on 360 or PS3, I play on split-screen with a friend.

I play some games on PC occasionally, but consoles will probably always be my platform of choice.

OP - as a PC gamer I have to jump in state the bloody obvious here:

Why don't you just buy PC games that come on a disc, rather than off steam? I have loads of them, and every new title comes out on a physical disc too.

In fact, what the hell are you talking about. All PC games have the option of being downloaded, but are all released on disc.

Discs are already obsolete.

What's confused you?

RIP Logan ~B.B.

Steam seems to offer more personal service, I think. If you read the agreements that come along with discs and activation codes, they often limit you to one install. Steam lets your purchases follow you, whatever and wherever you happen to be playing.

Anyone that says that one gaming platform is better than the other is stupid.

It really just matters what you prefer. I prefer consoles, personally. It just feels better to hold the case of a game, take the disc out, and put it in your console and play it.

But that's just me. I feel kinda awkward gaming with a mouse and keyboard. A controller feels more natural to me.

^ Little unrelated, but still.

You can just buy the disc, OP.

Unless you're not on the internet.
It's almost 2013. You have no excuse for not being on the internet.

What if I go somewhere which doesn't have the internet?
Like where? Camping? Why would you want to play video games while you're camping?

I disagree. I'm in the middle of reading 4 books, and I only have to carry my tablet with me; it's wonderful.

A lot of holiday homes don't have the internet.

This generation plays video games while they are traveling with their family.

Damn some people can just never get away from those things for 1 day.

Exactly, you're on vacation. You should be enjoying the company of the people you're with, and the place you're in. Why would you take your video games on vacation?

Playing your DS on the plane, I can understand. But people seriously bring their xbox, PS3, PC, etc. THAT is what is impersonal.

What? If I'm on holiday with my family then I need to get away from them because they annoy me.
Meanwhile, they're thinking "wow, I wish he would spend some time with us, rather than being locked up in his room, just like he is when he's at home."

It isn't our shiznit anymore.

Yeah, I like how console publishers will take time out of their busy day to bend me over with new ways of emptying my wallet. It really makes it seem like there are actual, caring people running those companies.

There are discs, it's just that most people prefer Steam for it's simplicity. I'll admit I'm a disc guy, but nowadays I have slowly stopped caring. I just go with the best price.
This. And if you wait long enough, you'll always find the best price on Steam.
