Subject: Why is the Storm Covenant so well equipped?

This was something I was wondering right about the point in Spartan Ops where in was raining Hunters and Banshees.

If I'm not mistaken, they're like a splinter, rogue group of Covenant that sort of rebel aginst Arbiter and his buddies. So, that would make them rebels. Being rebels, you'd think they'd be less equipped then normal covenant military, but they seem to have equal amounts of troops and equipment.

My question is how? How do they have all this stuff? All the tanks, Banshees, hunters, guns, etc. Where do they get it all?

I never read the books or whatever, so I thought maybe someone could explain it to me, or if it's just cuz it's a video game and needs badguys to shoot.

I believe here on Earth you can see these things called "countries" with different stuff between each other.

iPhone 4S 64GB Black.

Perhaps, they were in charge of defending an entire sector of Covenant territory, but rebelled, and stole all the equipment? Lol I dunno.

  • 12.05.2012 1:42 PM PDT

Because 343.

  • 12.05.2012 1:42 PM PDT

They probably stole it all.

  • 12.05.2012 1:42 PM PDT

Because they want to survive, just like you.

  • 12.05.2012 1:42 PM PDT

Read the books, bro.
There IS no 'normal Covenant Military.'

They call me graland.

I'm assuming they cover that in the third Traviss book, since Glasslands ends with the tiniest of beginnings for the Storm faction.

But different countries have their own militaries. Storm covies would be, to use your metaphor, a bunch of rebels to that particular countries military.

Not reading/buying books to figure out the answer to one question. Especially when the reviews are so mixed.

We can assume a few things.

1 - The Storm Fleet is relatively big. 50 Ships perhaps.

2 - They rely on older tech. (Older CCS-Class Battlecruisers, Phantoms)

3 - The Storm is primarily composed of Elites whose heritage comes from Hesurados, an Elite Colony that was never heavily involved with the Covenant, allowing for it to have an abundance of usable technology.

I love how you bash Halo 4 constantly without even thinking things through. The Storm Covenant make sense if you use an ounce of common sense.

Blame 343 for making you have to think/invest yourself to understand the story.

That would explain the Banshee being the model from Reach.

Dude, it's the same reason how the the separatists remained well equipped through out Halo 3.

In the covenant civil war where the elites left the covenant, they just took the ships that were left in their command and turned them against the brutes & prophets.

Same thing here. Those loyal to the path already had über l33t technology under their control. They don't just relinquish it; they take it with them.

i.e: If I renounce my U.S citizenship tomorrow, it doesn't change the fact that there's still a shotgun in my closet.

If a U.S soldier goes A-WoL in Afghanistan and just tries to leave combat, he still has his M4, grenades, GPS, and all his gear with him.

They just pack up what they already have, and leave.

Same thing here. When the civil war broke out, Rtas & Arbiter still are in possession of a cruiser.

When Chief disobeyed Rio in Halo 4, he still got to keep his MJLONR. Who's there to take away their equipment and knowledge? Nobody.

Get it?

Gameplay convenience.

It's a shame that the H4 story is so weak under scrutiny. But whatever.

This.

343 also taught me that no matter where you go, there will be a convenient symmetrical button placements that gives me exactly what I need.

It just seems odd they would have equal strength to the Covenant, at least in terms of infantry. With so few ships, you'd think it would be difficult to get more grunts/jackals/hunters from their home planets.

Then how about read the books for answers to a LOT of questions?
:P

There is no covenant military. The Covenant that side with the Arbiter and the side siding with Jul 'Mdama, leader of the Storm, are both just scrounging any weapons they can get. I still have about 50 pages left in Thursday War, but for two books now the UNSC has been publicly helping the Arbiter and his human-friendly agenda, but ONI has been helping the 'rebels' by destroying the Arbiter's ships and giving the Storm weapons.

But yeah. Both sides are scrounging up any technology they can, and as of now they are just a bunch of scattered keeps across the galaxy. There is no organized military. There is also no Covenant.

I've been playing Halo since 2002. My earliest memories include hiding at the shotgun window on Damnation and killing my dad with grenades while playing co-op on Pillar of Autumn.

If you weren't such a fanboy and didn't sack ride 343 constantly you'd realize that 343 are just bad story tellers.

Admit it. They sold out to CoD.

Admit. It.

04s suck

So many fuel rod guns.

At least they're not using a lot of snipers/carbines.

Don't forget that the entirety of the Storm Covenant is at Requiem.

Because of that, it gives an illusion of fighting a fully equiped Covenant. In Reach we only fought an advance invasion force, in Halo 2 we fought against a small number of Covenant Ships, and Halo 3, we fought against another small number of ships.

I am a monument to all your sins

after the covenant war, all the different Sangheili keeps (basically states) stockpiled the equipment they had left over from the war, including warships in many cases if there was a shipmaster in the keep. All the keeps that sided with Jul donated their gear to the cause.
