Because 343.

I love how you bash Halo 4 constantly without even thinking things through. The Storm Covenant make sense if you use an ounce of common sense.

If you weren't such a fanboy and didn't sack ride 343 constantly you'd realize that 343 are just bad story tellers.

Admit it. They sold out to CoD.

Admit. It.
I'd never admit to that, why? 343i took Halo's story into a direction Bungie would have never gone. The Reclaimer trilogy happens to be one of the best Campaigns of all time for Halo. In terms of Multiplayer, it feels like Halo, it plays like Halo, it's Halo.

My question is how? How do they have all this stuff? All the tanks, Banshees, hunters, guns, etc. Where do they get it all?

Get it?
Okay. I see what you're saying. I didn't realize they were around since the civil war started. But then that just makes me wonder why the Elites didn't beat the crap out of them like they did the loyalists, or were they like a third faction?

Not reading/buying books to figure out the answer to one question. Especially when the reviews are so mixed.
Then how about read the books for answers to a LOT of questions?
:P

There is no covenant military. The Covenant that side with the Arbiter and the side siding with Jul 'Mdama, leader of the Storm, are both just scrounging any weapons they can get. I still have about 50 pages left in Thursday War, but for two books now the UNSC has been publicly helping the Arbiter and his human-friendly agenda, but ONI has been helping the 'rebels' by destroying the Arbiter's ships and giving the Storm weapons.

You're telling me, that there's a tinfoil conspiracy level plot in the Halo lore, where the good guys help the bad guys to help them kill off the good guys?

Yeah, I'll stick with space majic thank you very much.

Not reading/buying books.
Blame 343 for making you have to think/invest yourself to understand the story.
That's hardly blaming them for anything. I'd just rather spend that 10 bucks on something else. Maybe if the books got nothing but golden reviews, I'd consider it.

The point is that it will keep the elites weak and divide so that they will not pose a threat to humanity in the future. It's a bad idea, and ONI is doing completely under its own authority, undermining Lord Hood himself.

ONI supplied the 'rebel' faction because their focus was on destroying the Arbiter. Or rather, to keep the two sides in an eternal conflict so they can never hurt humanity again. The UNSC sided with the Arbiter because he was open to humans and we had peace with him. ONI doesn't believe we can ever coexist, so they just want to make sure the 'Covenant' can never hurt humanity again. That is why they were supplying the anti-human cause, because that cause was purely focused on the Arbiter and they wanted to keep sides even.

I've been playing Halo since 2002. My earliest memories include hiding at the shotgun window on Damnation and killing my dad with grenades while playing co-op on Pillar of Autumn.

1. It was already obvious by Halo 3 that Master Chief was Humanity's Chosen One.

2. The overall plot served as a wrapper for the plotline between Master Chief and Cortana. Halo 4 is about a coming of age tale of how it took a machine to make a person realize his own humanity. It's quite poetic if you ask me. Lots and lots of symbolism on that.

Did they even mention Lord Hood in 4, or did they dropped his character under the hood?

Says someone who didn't focus on the true storyline of Halo 4.

You need to be versed in Halo's EU, to understand that Halo 4's Space Opera story isn't generic. Or you could just watch the terminals to realize obvious things.

Halo 4's storyline that is easily understandable to anyone is the one between Master Chief and Cortana.

What it sounds like to me, is that you are growing away from Halo and arne't even trying to understand what's going on. I think it's time for you to move on.

Well The Covenant are very well equipped, so a faction that used to be apart of the well equipped faction would be well equipped.

Fleet Admiral Lord Hood, is... Well under the hood.

I believe he's focusing on the rebuilding of our military, and the resurging insurrection.

Giggity Giggity Goo - Quagmire

Just because they're a rebel group doesn't mean they wouldn't be well equipped. Maybe they have a rich San'Shyyum funding them. Who knows?
