Subject: Space Marines or Halo? No Precursors.

You look around. You fire your weapon before you realize.
Its just me. I fall and you walk up. You cry why.
When i pop up. You look at me in wonder. I say,"ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL."
You bend to my will and go to a cliff, walk off, and fall.
The last thing you hear is me stating as fact,"All will fail the battle of life, you just went early"

Master Chief solos with the Halo 1 pistol.

Plot twist.

He never found any ammo for it.

Plot twist #2.

The Bandanna Skull was on.

Plot Twist #3.

It's actually the Halo 3 pistol.

Plot Twist #4

It's actually a mini Halo Ring gun.

there's no real reason why they're strong
lol.

Space marines are slightly modified humans with big guns and massive armor. That's not going to stop -blam!-. If we're going to be realistic, an Abrams tank could punch through that and kill them. They're not demi gods. They'd be much more like they are in the Dawn of War cut-scene where they get shredded to bits when they try to run up a hill.

As much as I would love to vote Space Marines, just the Didact alone and his Composer really rips apart many of the Space Marines approaches. The idea of being able to uber scan people into dust and then turn them into twelve foot tall silver giants with swords and weapons based off of light is just a killer. Even worse, the more it is used the more Prometheans there are. EVEN WORSE, Prometheans never really die. They just disintegrate into bits and pieces of carbonized metal and vanish. They can revive themselves at will. Against other things like regular marines and such, I'd say everything above imperial guard and orks can hold their own. But for awesome purposes, I would love to see an Ultra Marines go up against a big old hunter with a chainsword. Can anyone agree with me that it would be goddamn awesome?

The hunter would be murdered in the blink of an eye.

It's funny I was thinking about that today and probably the orks would have got shredded running down the hill.

lol. Compared to all the other factions in WH40k they have to be strong. Regular humans are torn to shreds. There are trillions of IG because their casualty rate is unbelievable.

No I meant the general equipment. It's just guns shooting large projectiles and strapping a lot of armor to things.

IDK what the -blam!- is wrong with the touchpad but my laptop splices sentences sometimes. Gets annoying.

Also are we referring to the just the Marines or all the other IoM forces? They have uncounted billions more soldiers.

Considering there are supposed to be only 1000 Space Marines active at any time, I'm inclined to say they would send an invading force fit for an entire galaxy, not just the Space Marines.

But the entire empire itself wouldn't come along.
Actually it's 1000 per chapter, and there are hundreds of chapters.

Ah my bad, well either way, it isn't just the Space Marines.

Not really.

The bullets for their guns aren't just slugs

If you read you find out that it isn't just huge bullets and lots of armor

They go indepth

Honestly Warhammer 40k vs halo threads are retarded.

I know but really, I just don't enjoy the lore at all. The games are fun but really, Space Marines are exaggerated to no end.

And yes, I 100% agree. *Insert Sci-Fi universe* VS. *Insert Sci-Fi universe* is pointless because they obey their own laws.

They may be "exaggerated" but they still get slaughtered going up against the stronger factions, like tyranids, and Necrons.

Honestly all Vs threads are retarded and they all devolve into fanboy wars.

Forerunners could do it alone.

They had an industrial output at least comparable to the Imperium, maybe even far outstretching it, and used warships that could destroy entire stars. I know the Imperium has ships with rediculously overpowered cannons, but so do the Forerunners.

And they have enough of them--practically an endless supply of them, many of them automated--to run a trillions-strong fleet, and then forget about it entirely (cite: Crymptum). We may not be talking big starships, but enough automated sentries to completely encase two planets. At that point, individual power output is irrelevant.

The Dawn of War cutscene is only like that because they didn't want to portray Space Marines too similarly to canon and have game players screaming bloody murder imba.

Space Marines are far above normal human. How much above normal human depends on who's writing the canon. The Horus Heresy novel tends to make superhumans killing superhumans more like humans killing humans. Some of the original canon novels make it seem like 1 squad of space marines can kill entire armies of other races' warriors.

and like i said before. The God Emperor of Mankind, being an actual god in the metaphysical sense, will tilt the scales in the Imperium's favor

Yeah, but if we're assuming that the Halo factions are at the height of their power, then it's only fair to assume the Imperium of Man is at the height of its power, too, which would mean the Emperor would be walking around destroying armies with his mind

God Emperor is a different story. But like I said, it's an entirely different universe where ridiculously powerful is all that exists. The universe is a pissing contest for power. That doesn't make it bad but it is true. I prefer more realistic realms.

Halo wins but just because of the foreruners, IoM stomps the others but the foreruners are basicaly culture lite now.
